On February 7th, our very own Toast of Mountain Toastmasters club co-founder and VP of Education, Kathleen Wavering, represented us in stellar fashion at the Area 1 Tall Tales Speech Competition in Tempe!
She won handily and will be moving on to the Division competition at the same venue, Rio Salado Conference Center, 2323 West 14th Street, Temple, on Saturday, March 28th, from 9am-12noon. If you have the opportunity, it’s great fun to support our champion and inspirational to listen to hear speeches from other clubs!

We had an absolutely wonderful meeting on December 18th learning that our amazing members and our guest, Karen, a fiber artist, are all accomplished in a wide variety of creative arts!

Our Tall Tales club competition was a huge success and such great fun! The two speeches could not have been more different.

The first was a hair-raising tale acted out by our VP of Education and club co-founder, Kathleen, who brought campfire drama about her nemesis, a very wily skunk. Tom, our president, followed with an extremely moving allegory in tribute to his mother which brought many of us to tears.

Kathleen’s tale prevailed and she will be representing Toast of the Mountain Toastmasters in the area competition in early February.

We were all winners in participating in such an inspiring showdown!

What beautiful and inspiring performances in the utterly charming Cottonwood Center for the Arts last weekend! Our Toast of the Mountain club member, MacKenzie (AKA Mazzie Rose), was the featured aerialist (and visual artist) at the beginning of the program. See more details here!

We had a lively, inspirational meeting led by Danielle on November 6th, with an uplifting speech about the best teachers in life from Tom and sharing our best tips and tools to feel positive and productive!

Our meeting theme on Thursday, November 6th will be “Mental Health and Wellness”. With the recent annual World Mental Health Day on October 10th, this is a gentle reminder for us all to assess our own mental health and to check on our friends and family. While these reflections and conversations should happen throughout the year, our TOTM meeting will foster healthy and open discussions about Mental Wellness.

What a fantastic time we had last evening at our 20th Anniversary Potluck for the Toast of the Mountain Toastmasters Club! Everyone braved the chilly but fun atmosphere for amazing food and camaraderie at the Buffalo Park and were delighted to meet Areina!
