These are the faces of prepared kindergarteners.

The face of a child who knows what to expect on the first day of school.

The face of a child who has practiced classroom routines, made new friends, and built confidence before ever stepping into kindergarten.

The face of a child who is ready.

For over 20 years, KinderCamp™ has helped Northern Arizona children start school with the tools they need to succeed—and the confidence to believe they can.

That’s the power of early support.

Last month, our Community Investment Team had the opportunity to visit the Boys & Girls Club of Flagstaff as part of our May Marathon of programs and organizations supported by your donations to United Way of Northern Arizona.

UWNA believes every child deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive. That's why it was inspiring to connect with this agency partner that always creates safe spaces where young people can build confidence, develop leadership skills, and discover their potential.

These visits give us the chance to share how workplace giving supports local initiatives while also learning more about the incredible work happening throughout our community.

Thank you to the Boys & Girls Club team for welcoming us and for the difference you make in the lives of Northern Arizona youth every day.

At our Annual Meeting & Community Impact Breakfast, Dawn Bogart, Co-CEO of Homeless Youth Connection, shared how HYC is working to support Arizona’s homeless high school students — who are 87% more likely to drop out than their stably housed peers.

Through its programs, HYC serves 700 youth ages 13–21 across 130 high schools, helping young people stay connected to school, resources, and support.

And the impact is clear: 95% of the youth they serve stay in school and complete their education.

That number says everything. 💙

This year’s Annual Meeting & Community Impact Breakfast was more than a celebration — it was a reminder of what’s possible when a community chooses to show up for one another. 💙

We heard stories of lives being changed through programs supporting youth leadership, kindergarten readiness, mental health, housing stability, and education across Northern Arizona.

We celebrated milestones like KinderCamp™ expanding into Holbrook and Joseph City, the opening of the WellPoint Bijou Teen Center, and our inaugural Youth Leadership Summit.

And we were reminded that behind every statistic is a real person, a real family, and a stronger future being built together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, partnered with us, volunteered, invested, and continues to believe in the power of community. We’re grateful to be part of this work alongside all of you.

At our Annual Meeting & Community Impact Breakfast, Stuck Community Flagstaff Executive Director and Licensed Acupuncturist Nox Chetcuti shared how United Way funding helped expand Mobile AcuDetox services for at-risk youth across Northern Arizona.

By bringing trauma-informed acupuncture and wellness care into community spaces where young people already are, Stuck is helping make support more accessible to those who need it most.

The outcomes after a single session are powerful:
• 95% of participants reported reduced stress
• 88% felt increased self-worth
• 79% experienced decreased anxiety and depression

It was a meaningful reminder that innovative, accessible care can open doors for young people in our community. 💙

For 100 years, Route 66 has connected communities, stories, and generations across Northern Arizona.

But what has always made this stretch of road special isn’t just the destination, it’s the people, small towns, local organizations, and neighbors who continue showing up for one another along the way.

At United Way of Northern Arizona, we’re proud to be part of communities built on connection, resilience, and care for one another.

As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, we’re also celebrating the people and partnerships that help Northern Arizona continue to move forward together.

We had the opportunity to work with Flagstaff High School Student Council and Links Leaders to continue their leadership development this past week. We were blown away by their commitment to making FHS an inclusive environment where all students have the opportunity to find their voice.

At our Annual Meeting & Community Impact Breakfast, Flagstaff Unified School District Superintendent Michael Penca celebrated UWNA’s 20-year partnership with FUSD through KinderCamp™ — a program that helps children with little or no preschool experience start kindergarten ready and confident.

He also shared how, during the recent government shutdown, UWNA provided $13,750 in grocery gift cards to support local families. The cards were distributed directly to families by teachers and counselors.

Partnerships like these are what help strengthen our communities when support is needed most. 💙
