It was a rewarding experience to attend this year’s NACo Conference in Philadelphia and connect with leaders from other counties across our nation! We are very happy to announce that a series of important resolutions that I co-sponsored as part of NAHCO were passed during this conference. These resolutions aim to protect the rights of migrants and citizens within our communities.

The 8 resolutions passed are the following:

• Resolution on Federal Agencies Respecting and Granting
Protection to “Sensitive Locations”
• Resolution on Protecting Section 1 of the 14th Amendment
of the United States Constitution and Ensuring the Right to Birthright
Citizenship
• Resolution on Humanitarian Parole Programs
• Resolution on Ensuring the Continuation of Asylum
• Resolution on Ensuring a Clear and Fair Vetting Process for
Migrants
• Resolution on Ensuring Non-Discrimination Practices in the Federal
Government
• Resolution to Ensure the Accuracy of the US Census
• Resolution to Continue Funding of Awarded Projects

Thank you to NAHCO President and Coconino County Treasurer Sarah Benatar for her leadership in developing these resolutions.

Also, big congratulations to Alisha Bell from Wayne County, Mich., for being elected 2nd Vice Chair of NACo!

Last week I had the pleasure of joining my colleagues in a set of tours of the Post-Wildfire Flood Mitigation
System in the Pipeline Fire Flood Area. It was great to see this project coming together after all the hard work we put into receiving federal funds from Biden Administration last year. We are proud to announce that to this day, the County has completed $96 million worth of projects along all 9 watersheds. Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this achievement possible!

Today we remember, honor, and bring awareness to all missing and Indigenous people in and beyond our CommUnity. We join our sisters, brothers, kindred, relatives, and neighbors in saying no more ... No more stolen sisters and brothers. No more lives lost. No more kindred missing.
