Our Constable Leroy Dunnom will be celebrating a birthday on Sunday, and our Court security Major Calvin Wilcox celebrated his birthday on Friday. We are so thankful for all they do! Happy Birthday gentlemen!!

Our office will be CLOSED on Tuesday 11/11/2025 for Veterans Day. We will reopen Wednesday 11/12/2025 in our new location at 402 A East Pine Street. Citizens can park in the parking lot behind the Courthouse, and enter our building on the north side. Look for our sign! If you have questions or need further directions, please call 229-426-5140. We look forward to serving you from our new location!

************SCAM ALERT************
We have been notified that defendants charged with a crime in Ben Hill County, after being granted a bond by the Magistrate Court, posting that bond and being released, are later being contacted after their release by an individual representing as an agent of an ankle monitoring service. This individual states they have been ordered to wear an ankle monitor after their release and they are now ordered to pay a fee for that service. **THIS IS A SCAM**

Ben Hill County Courts do use an ankle monitoring service in limited cases and the defendant IS responsible for payment of the fees associated with that service.
However.
If you are ordered to wear an ankle monitor by one of our courts:
✅You will be ordered to do so in open court by the presiding Judge.
✅Your bond order will show the conditions of your bond to include the use of an ankle monitor and payment of fees.
✅The ankle monitor will be installed BEFORE you are released.

ANKLE MONITORS ORDERED BY A COURT ARE ALWAYS INSTALLED BEFORE RELEASE FROM JAIL.

If you or someone you know is contacted after posting bond and being released from jail asking for payment of this service, immediately end the call and report to law enforcement.

Exciting news! The Magistrate Court of Ben Hill County is MOVING!! We do not have an exact date but we are close as you see. We are excited to be back downtown, near the courthouse and closer to those we serve! This move puts all courts of the county within walking distance of each other, making access to our citizens easier. If you are at the wrong court we will be able to “literally” point you in the right direction. A big thank you to our County Manager and Board members for making this move possible!! Stay tuned for our official move in date and our new physical address. Our mailing address will remain unchanged.
