Tonight the members of the Fitchburg FD Honor Guard and the Fitchburg, Wisconsin - Police Department Honor Guard we’re given the honor to present the colors at tonight’s City Council meeting.

Tonight the City of Fitchburg, WI - Government recognized both of our departments for 50 years of service to our community with a mayoral proclamation.

From our humble beginnings in 1971, to the department that we have evolved into today, we have many people to thank along the way; those who founded the department, the members of the department throughout the years; and most importantly our community.

It is an honor and a privilege to be part of and serve a community that supports both of our respective departments.

Today we remember colleague, mentor, friend, and brother Division Chief Richard Heft of the Fitchburg Fire Department. Chief Heft passed away on August 9th, 2014 from job related cancer. You are missed, and will forever be in our hearts. RIP Chief

As we navigate these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued uncertainty it presents, we are regretfully cancelling the 2020 Final Alarm Ceremony, which includes the Legacy Stone Placement Ceremony.

Ensuring the safety of all friends and family is of utmost importance.

The names will still be engraved on the Memorial Wall this year. However, the names will be honored at the 2021 Final Alarm Ceremony along with the 2020 honorees
