Several maples (Acer spp.) especially noticeable on Norway maple (Acer platanoides) are infected with tar spot (Rhytisma spp.) and anthracnose, there are several fungal pathogens that may be responsible. The anthracnose is causing the browning of the leaves and contributing to significant early leaf drop. The combination of the two infections is not typically fatal, but the visual impact has raised concerns and will likely impact fall color.

We’re winding down a great summer! Here is everything you need to know about our pool and splashpad hours for the week ahead and the end of the season.

🏊 J. Robert Crowley Pool Hours This Week:

Daily: 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Weather Permitting)

⚠️ Special Note: We will be closing 30 minutes early on certain days this week to accommodate makeup swim lessons.

📅 Important End-of-Season Dates:

LAST DAY of the Pool: Saturday, August 22nd

Early Closure (Aug 22): The pool will close to the general public at 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 22nd, for our Puppy Pool Party! 🐾💦

💦 Splashpad Status:

Crocker Splashpad: OPEN through Labor Day Weekend!

Parkhill Splashpad: LAST DAY is Monday, August 24th!

Woof! Get ready for a paw-ty at the J.R. Crowley Pool! 🐾 We're closing out summer with an End of Summer Dog Swim on August 22nd from 5-7 PM!

This "Bone-afide" pool party is $10 per pup and benefits the Fitchburg Parks & Recreation Department! Lifeguards will be on duty!

We can't wait to see all our furry friends for this event! Tag a dog owner who can't miss this!
