🚜💙 Building Culture Through Community 💙🚜

One of the most important things we can invest in as a city is our culture.

DPW Day is more than just trucks, equipment, and demonstrations. It is an opportunity to strengthen a culture of community pride, public service, respect, and appreciation for the people who work every day to keep Fitchburg running.

Culture is built when neighbors come together, when children learn about the people who serve their community, and when we create opportunities for positive interactions between residents and City employees. It is built when we celebrate teamwork, recognize hard work, and inspire the next generation to take pride in their city.

Through grant funding and community partnerships, DPW Day provides a free, family-friendly event that helps foster civic engagement, education, and community connection. It allows residents to see firsthand the value of public service while creating lasting memories for families and children.

A strong community isn't built by infrastructure alone it is built by the culture we create together. Events like DPW Day help cultivate that culture by bringing people together, encouraging appreciation, and reinforcing the sense of pride that makes Fitchburg a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

We look forward to celebrating our community and the dedicated men and women of the Department of Public Works, Fitchburg Police Department, City of Fitchburg Board of Health, Fitchburg Public Schools, Fitchburg Fire Department and so many other City of Fitchburg employees and departments who help make it possible every day.

We know it is incredibly hot out there today, and we are so sorry for the inconvenience this causes for everyone trying to stay cool! Our team is working diligently to make the necessary repairs.

🔧 The Goal: We are pushing hard to have the water flowing and ready for you again tomorrow.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. We will post another update as soon as it's back up and running! 💦

Help Fitchburg Win the NRPA Recycling Race! 🌎🐢
This April, we’re competing against agencies across the country to see who can go the greenest for Earth Month! We need YOUR help to put our city at the top of the leaderboard.

Guess who is in the top 3 after the week!
Waverly, NE,
Tybee Island, GA,
and Fitchburg, MA!

There are two ways you can help us take home the win:

🎮 1. PLAY THE MISSION

Download the Agents of Discovery app and complete the "NRPA Recycling Race" mission. It’s free, fun, and can be played from anywhere! Every completed mission counts as a point for Fitchburg.

How to find it:
1. Download the app, “Agents of Discovery” from your App Store or Google Play store. You cannot play the mission from a web browser.
2. Open the app and create an account to log in.
3. Listen to Agent Otter’s welcome and click continue.
4. Once you’re on the “Missions” page, click “Play Anywhere” on the bottom toolbox.
5. In the search bar, type “NRPA Recycling Race”, click on the mission, and select “play mission.”

🧹 2. JOIN A CLEANUP
We are tracking every pound of litter and recycling collected during our volunteer cleanups this month. If you are out helping beautify our parks, make sure to take a photo of your bagged items!

Note: Routine household trash doesn't count—this is all about special Earth Month efforts!

Keep an eye on the leaderboard:
You can see if we’re in the top three by visiting nrpa.org/recycling.

Let’s show them the power of our community. Let’s get to work, Fitchburg!

This work is made possible by the National Recreation and Park Association with the support of Niagara Cares, the charitable division of Niagara Bottling. The Love Your Happy Place coalition partners include DoSomething and Keep America Keep Fitchburg Beautifull. Together we are inspiring residents to take a simple yet
impactful pledge: Recycle. Compost. Reduce Litter. Every Day.
