Register to learn more about Fitchburg’s New Food Scarp Program!

New Food Scrap Stop Coming to Fitchburg!

The Food Scrap Stop program, created by Dane County Waste & Renewables, helps reduce the amount of food waste sent to the landfill. The City of Fitchburg is partnering with Dane County to bring this program to Fitchburg.

While this program is free to all residents, the collection carts will be locked to help prevent contamination and pests. To participate, residents must register for the program through the Dane County Waste + Renewables. Once registered, you will receive a lock combination allowing you to unlock the collection carts.

To kick things off, join us for a pre-launch event at the Swan Creek Park shelter, 5175 E. Cheryl Parkway, on Monday, October 27, from 3:00–5:00 p.m.

After the launch, the Fitchburg Scrap Stop will be open for food scrap drop-offs 24/7, year-round.

Trick-or-Treat hours.

Recommended Trick-or-Treat Hours

Fitchburg’s recommended Trick-or-Treat hours are 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely—stick to well-lit areas, stay in groups, and watch for traffic while crossing streets.

The City of Fitchburg has received grant funding from the Wisconsin DNR to develop a Strategic Urban Forestry Management Plan—and we need your input.

The “Moving Fitchburg Forestry Forward” project endpoint is a strategic urban forestry management plan by the end of the year. The plan will outline what urban forestry resources the City of Fitchburg currently has, identify goals and objectives for the urban forestry program, and create a plan on how to accomplish these goals and objectives. The plan must be vertically integrated with relevant City of Fitchburg plans and policies such as Fitchburg's Parks and Open Space Plan, Fitchburg's Comprehensive Plan, the City's Mission, Vision, and Values, and the Forest Management Plan for McGaw Community Park. An important part is understanding the City of Fitchburg’s capacity to manage and retain urban tree canopy on public and private property.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. Results will be collected through the end of August 2025.

Arbor Day Tree Planting Events this weekend!

Arbor Day Tree Planting Events

Come celebrate Arbor Day in Fitchburg, a Tree City of the World.

Two events to choose from - Saturday, April 26 - hand tools will be provided. Volunteers may wish to bring water and wear gloves. Families welcome!

Rescheduled Concerts at McKee.

The July Concerts at McKee – The Mascot Theory has been moved to Monday, July 22nd, 6:00-9:00pm at McKee Farms Park.

The impeding weather forecast for tonight makes hosting the event iffy and the safety and enjoyment of everyone is our first priority. Everyone is so excited to welcome Mascot Theory to Concerts at McKee that we have rescheduled for next Monday, July 22nd same time same place. Please do join us then!
