🌊 This week, Fishers Fire Department divers and crews trained on boat-based dive operations and sonar technology used to locate objects and victims beneath the water’s surface.

As more people head out to lakes and waterways this time of year, training like this helps ensure our crews are ready if they're ever needed.

While we train for the unexpected, everyone can help make the water safer:

✅ Wear a properly fitted life jacket when boating or participating in water activities.
✅ Never swim or boat alone. Always have a buddy.
✅ Assign a dedicated Water Watcher whose only job is to keep an eye on swimmers.

Stay safe and enjoy the water this summer. 🌊🚤

🦺 A life jacket only works if you're wearing it, and wearing it correctly.

Before heading out on the water, make sure your life jacket:
✔️ Fits snugly and is properly adjusted
✔️ Is the right size for the person wearing it
✔️ Is zipped and buckled completely

Children should wear a properly fitted life jacket whenever they're boating or participating in water activities. Adults should wear one too.

Whether you're boating, paddling, or fishing, don't just wear it. Wear it right.

⛳️ Tee off for a great cause.

Remax Complete's Heroes’ Open is back on Monday, August 3 at Hawthorns Country Club, benefiting the Fifty Club of Fishers. The Fifty Club supports the families of Fishers Police Department and Fishers Fire Department personnel who are seriously injured or lose their lives in the line of duty.

🪢 Recruit Class 40 spent this week high above the ground training on rope rescue operations at Station 91.

Rope rescue training prepares firefighters for calls in difficult-to-reach places while reinforcing the communication and teamwork needed on scene.

With graduation just days away, Class 40 continues tackling hands-on training.

☀️💦 We had a great evening partnering with the Fishers Community Center to share water safety tips with local families as summer gets underway!

With pools opening and more people heading out on lakes and boats, now is the perfect time to review a few simple safety reminders that can help save lives:

One of Fishers Fire Department’s favorite summer traditions kicks off June 1, and everyone is invited. These neighborhood water drills are free, family-friendly, and open to anyone, no matter where you live.

Join Fishers Fire Department and Fishers Health Department for our free Staying Safe at Home class for older adults, caregivers, and anyone interested in making their home safer and more prepared for emergencies.

You’ll learn:
🔥 Smoke alarm safety, maintenance, and how FFD can help with installations and battery changes
🔑 How to order and install a Knox Box and why it matters during emergencies
🦶 Simple fall prevention tips and ways FHD can help reduce fall risks at home

Whether you’re looking out for yourself, a parent, neighbor, or loved one, this class offers practical information and resources that can help keep people safe.

During EMS Week, we want to recognize our EMS Duty Officers (EDOs), experienced paramedics who help lead some of the community’s most challenging emergency calls.

EDOs respond to serious and complex incidents across the city, providing leadership, support, and extra coordination during high-pressure situations. They also assist crews on scenes involving mental health crises, emotional distress, and other emergencies where patients and families may need additional support.

With specialized training in Crisis Intervention and de-escalation techniques, EDOs help ensure calm, compassionate care while supporting both responders and patients during difficult moments.

We’re proud of the leadership, experience, and compassion our EDOs bring to the community every day.
