Watch out for poison ivy this season!
Spending time outdoors in the yard, garden, or woods? Poison ivy can sneak up on you—and knowing the facts can help you avoid an itchy rash.
✅ The rash is caused by an oil called urushiol found on the plant
✅ It can show up hours—or even days—after contact
✅ The rash itself isn’t contagious, but the oil can stick to clothes, tools, and pets
✅ Repeated exposure can make reactions worse over time

Tip: Wash skin and clothing as soon as possible after possible exposure, and avoid burning poison ivy—it can be dangerous if inhaled.
