On May 9, a 23-year-old Fillmore resident and gang member, (S) Kristian Morfin, was arrested for drug and firearm-related offenses.

During the months of March through May 2025, detectives with the Fillmore Bureau of Investigation were looking into Kristian Morfin for unlawful firearm activities. During the second week of May 2025, detectives obtained a search warrant for Morfin, his vehicle, and his residence located in the 700 block of Fine Street in Fillmore.

On May 9, detectives from the Fillmore Bureau of Investigation, West County Special Enforcement Unit, Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit, Moorpark Special Enforcement Detail, and Headquarters Station assisted with a warrant service on Morfin, his vehicle, and his residence.

At about 8:00 AM, detectives contacted Morfin at his place of employment located in the 1900 block of Eastman Avenue in Ventura and executed a search warrant on his person and vehicle. Additional detectives executed a warrant at Morfin’s residence. As a result of the warrant service, Morfin was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, graffiti tools, and a loaded, stolen semi-automatic handgun.

Morfin was arrested for felonious violations of Health & Safety Code § 11370.1(a) – [Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with a Firearm], Penal Code § 487(d)(2) – [Grand Theft Firearm], Penal Code § 25850(a) – [Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Vehicle], Penal Code § - [Carrying a Concealed Firearm in Vehicle], and Penal Code § 27545 – [Unlawful Firearm Transfer]. This morning, Fillmore deputies and Ventura County Fire personnel responded and assisted an individual who was experiencing a crisis. Deputies and fire personnel did a great job communicating with the individual and de-escalating the situation using their Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. They were able to assess and assist the individual in an effective and compassionate manner and helped get him resources. All our deputies receive CIT training which helps us provide better service to our community by increasing the identification, understanding, and treatment of people in a mental health crisis.

If you’re feeling despondent, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, for both English and Spanish speakers, can be reached by calling 988 or can be found online at 988lifeline.org. On April 25, 2023, the Fillmore City Council voted (5-0) and approved the purchase of four (4) E-Bikes to be used by the Fillmore Police Department. The E-Bikes will be used to augment uniformed patrol services throughout the city by allowing deputies to undertake bicycle patrols. The E-Bikes offer many benefits to the community, including high visibility, and engagement with our community members. Patrolling on bicycles makes our deputies more accessible and personable to the public and will help facilitate more proactive and positive police contacts with members of our community.

Following the city council meeting, a community member came to the Fillmore police station and donated a check in the amount of $4,000! The generous community member, who wished to remain anonymous, is a long-time supporter of law enforcement and wanted to donate money for the station’s bicycle program. The donation was used to fully fund the purchase of a fifth E-Bike.

We are extremely grateful for the generous donation and the continued support of our community members!
