Your library card reaches far beyond our shelves!

If we don't have the book or movie that you are looking for, we can search throughout the state to ensure you find it.

Me when my library doesn’t have the book: Fine. I’ll ask the entire state.
Because... would you just LOOK at all of those libraries!?

And you can, because of MeLCat, or the Michigan eLibrary Catalog. MeLCat lets you search the collections of participating libraries across Michigan and request eligible materials to be delivered to your home library for pickup. Think of it as your library card reaching far beyond your own library’s shelves.

Explore MeLCat: https://mel.org/welcome

To use MeLCat, you’ll need a library card from a participating Michigan library. MeL.org: Michigan eLibrary

📚 2026 GRANT FINALIST | EDUCATION

In a rural community, a library can be so much more than a place to check out a book.

It can be where a student finds reliable Wi-Fi to finish an assignment. Where a senior gets help navigating technology. Where a job seeker prints an application. Where a child discovers a love of reading. And where neighbors have a place to simply gather.

Friends of Fife Lake Public Library is a 2026 Impact100 Traverse City Grant Finalist for Room for Community: The Fife Lake Learning Hub.

As part of a larger library expansion, the project will create a new 2,280-square-foot Learning Hub serving Fife Lake and surrounding rural communities. A $120,000 Impact100 TC grant would take that new space from built to fully activated providing the furnishings, technology, accessibility features, learning equipment and tools needed to welcome the community from day one.

And the need is already there. The library serves residents across nine townships and four counties, with 1,777 cardholders….nearly equal to the entire year-round population of Fife Lake Township.

This is what access to education can look like in a rural community: close to home, open to everyone, and built to bring people together. 🩵

The Friends of the Fife Lake Public Library are honored to be a finalist for the Impact 100 TC 2026 grant cycle! Tuesday we had the opportunity to share more about our expansion project, and how we would use the grant funds if they are awarded to us.

In Fife Lake, many needs land at the same public door. Our expansion will better meet residents' needs by providing private meeting spaces, a larger community room, more materials for patrons, as well as updated accessibility.

We want to thank the community for their continued support. Follow our page for more opportunities to support our Library Expansion!
