📮Election day is coming up on November 4th, and Proposition A is on the ballot.

Proposition A would allow an increase in the maximum amount of ad valorem tax that could be assessed against property in ESD 5. Currently, the maximum amount authorized is $0.03/$100 valuation. This maximum rate has remained unchanged since 1987. The maximum amount authorized by the Texas Constitution for ESDs is $0.10 per $100 valuation. ESD 5 is asking voters to allow it to have the higher ad valorem tax cap that most ESDs in Ellis County already have.

🧯This increase in revenue would establish more fiscal support for ESD 5, increasing the ability to invest in updated equipment, secure more staffing and respond to emergencies more quickly.

Did you know that ESD 5 is currently receiving the same amount of tax money as it did in 1987?

🏠ESD 5 is solely funded through a maximum $0.03/$100 ad valorem property tax. This single source of revenue is insufficient to support the growing needs of ESD 5.

Proposition A would allow an increase in the maximum amount of ad valorem tax that could be assessed against property in ESD 5. Currently, the maximum amount authorized is $0.03/$100 valuation.
