Notice of Traffic Revision: The intersection at Church Road and Thornton Street will be CLOSED Tuesday, June 16th and Wednesday, June 17th, 2026.

Drivers should plan to detour around the Church Road and Thornton Street intersection on Tuesday, June 16th and Wednesday, June 17th, as the intersection will be CLOSED for road maintenance. City crews will be grinding and repaving the intersection. The closure is in effect between 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Signs will direct drivers to detour around the closure.

The intersection will reopen nightly with "Motorcycles Use Extreme Caution" and "Dip and/or Loose Gravel" signs in all four directions.

🎉 Summer of Fun Kicks Off This Friday in Ferndale! 🎉

Join the City of Ferndale's Parks, Recreation, Trails & Advisory Board (PRTAB) as we launch our Summer of Fun series with an evening of free community events!

🎲 Community Game Night
📍 Pioneer Pavilion
🕔 5:00–9:00 PM

Bring your family and friends for an evening of games, community connection, and free pizza while supplies last, courtesy of Ferndale Domino's. All ages are welcome!

🎬 Flicks in the Park showing Zootopia 2
📍 Field between the Boys & Girls Club and Pioneer Pavilion
🕤 Approximately 9:30 PM

Once the sun goes down and it's dark enough to see the screen, settle in for a free outdoor showing of Zootopia 2. We'll also be handing out free popcorn and drinks while supplies last.

To make the most of your movie night, we encourage attendees to:
🪑 Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets
🧥 Dress warmly for the evening
🦟 Consider bringing bug spray

✅ Both events are FREE and open to community members of all ages.

Join the City of Ferndale’s Parks, Recreation, and Trails Advisory Board (PRTAB) for a FREE all-ages Game Night! Bring your favorite board, card, or tabletop games to share — or come ready to learn something new. Guests are welcome to bring snacks or dinner and enjoy a fun evening of connection, laughter, and friendly competition.

Please be aware of increased traffic and brief delays this evening as seniors participate in the annual Senior Parade.

Thank you for your patience as we celebrate this special Ferndale tradition and recognize our graduating seniors. 💙💛

COMMUNITY TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FHS SENIOR PARADE

This evening, Thursday, June 4, Ferndale High School seniors will be participating in their annual Senior Parade, a special tradition celebrating the Class of 2026.

Beginning around 6:00 PM, a large number of student vehicles will travel from Pioneer Park to Ferndale High School along the following route:
➡️ Cherry St.
➡️ 3rd Ave.
➡️ Washington St.
➡️ Golden Eagle Dr.
➡️ Ferndale High School

Residents can expect increased traffic and brief delays, particularly where the parade crosses Main Street. Ferndale Police officers will be on scene to help slow and direct traffic to ensure the safety of participants and the traveling public.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we help make this memorable tradition possible for this year’s graduating seniors. If you're traveling in the area this evening, please allow a little extra time, watch for pedestrians and parade vehicles, and join us in celebrating the Class of 2026!

Training Notice from the Ferndale Police Department for the month of June

The Ferndale Police Department will be conducting active shooter / mass casualty response training on Thursday evenings during the month of June at Horizon Middle School in partnership with Whatcom County Fire District 7.

Training sessions will take place during the early evening hours and are expected to conclude by 8:00 PM.

As part of the training, officers will be using blank ammunition indoors. While it is unlikely anything will be heard outside of the building, community members in the area may notice increased emergency vehicle activity during training times.

We appreciate the community’s understanding as we continue preparing our first responders for critical incidents and emergency response situations.

These are volunteer positions but absolutely essential to providing quality input to the city decision making process. The city currently has vacancy on the Ferndale Arts Commission.
