Guess what? The Whatcom County Library System Bookmobile will be at Star Park this Thursday! Play at the playground and discover some fantastic new books!

Nothing says summer like summer reading! And if your kids need some new books to devour, the Whatcom Bookmobile will have you covered.

Beat the heat! Get hosed down at Pioneer Park today!

Join us at 4PM today at Pioneer Park where Whatcom County Fire District Seven will be hosing down anyone who wants to get wet. The city will be on hand passing out free water and ice for whomever wants it.

Visitors to Star Park might notice there is a construction site roped off directly adjacent to the playground. We are breaking ground this week on the new picnic shelter.

Please keep your children (and yourselves) outside the construction fencing and in return, we will keep the bathrooms and playground as open as possible throughout the project. Thank you!

I have some beautiful new art thanks to volunteers who came out and celebrated my fifth birthday! Thank you everyone, especially the Ferndale Arts Commission who helped give me a fresh coat of paint!

Just a reminder, masks are required at star Park. If you are unable to wear a mask, please use a face shield. This helps protect all who use the park, and allows us to keep it open during this difficult time.

Just a reminder - Star Park is still CLOSED due to the pandemic. When you have kids playing, that often means more than 5 people gathering in one place and that increases the risk of an outbreak. We're antsy to reopen but we just aren't there yet.

Please respect the fact that we are closed and instead enjoy a game of disc golf at VanderYacht or a picnic in Pioneer Park as an alternative.

We are really excited that Whatcom County is approved for Phase 2. Unfortunately, playgrounds are not allowed to reopen until Phase 3 - and that includes Star Park. Hang in there, just a few more weeks and we will be able to reopen.

In the meantime, feel free to enjoy a picnic in Pioneer Park or some frisbee over at VanderYacht Park and while you are at it, grab some takeout from one of our fine Ferndale businesses.

Four years ago, over 2,000 volunteers came together and built Star Park, making it the largest volunteer event in the Ferndale's history. Here's a great video of the build, do you see anyone you recognize?
