Today, several members of our department participated in the “Tucker” workout at CrossFit Jax Beach in honor of Lt. James Tucker.

As we approach the second anniversary of his passing, we’re reminded that Tucker’s impact on this department and those around him continues to live on every single day. What better way to honor his memory than by coming together through hard work, sweat, camaraderie, and the kind of determination that defined who he was.

Thank you to CrossFit Jacksonville Beach for hosting this special workout and helping us continue to remember one of our own.

Tucker’s legacy will never be forgotten. Forever part of the FBFD family

This week, you may have seen our crews out on Drury Road conducting training. Every shift spent time sharpening critical firefighting skills focused on building search operations and mayday response scenarios — preparing for the moments when teamwork, communication, and quick decision-making matter most.

Training like this challenges our firefighters both mentally and physically, helping ensure we’re ready to respond when our community needs us most.

A special thank you to Lieutenant Dowie for leading the training and investing time into developing our crews. We’re proud of the hard work and commitment shown by every firefighter who took part this week. 🚒🔥

This year’s Shrimp Festival may have come with a little extra rain, but it didn’t dampen the dedication of our team! 🌧️🦐

Rain or shine, our personnel stayed ready and committed to keeping everyone safe, alongside our law enforcement partners.

A huge thank you to the St. Augustine Fire Department and Nassau County Fire Rescue for loaning us their MERV units, as well as the Nassau County Sheriff's Office for their Mobile Command Center and dedicated dispatchers. Your support made a real difference!

🚨 IMPORTANT: BURN BAN EXTENDED, 5/6/2026.
Nassau County has extended the county-wide burn ban and will continue to extend it weekly, as necessary. Wildfire risk remains high and we need everyone’s help to keep our community safe.
🚫 What’s NOT Allowed:
No yard debris burning (vegetation/branches).
No bonfires or campfires.
No outdoor burning unless specifically permitted by the Florida Forest Service.
✅ What IS Allowed:
Gas and charcoal grills are permitted, but they must be monitored at all times.
🔥 Stay Vigilant!
In these dry conditions, a tiny spark can lead to a massive emergency. Please be extra careful with:
Cigarettes: Never toss them in the grass or out of car windows.
Trailer Chains: Ensure they aren't dragging on the road (sparks ignite dry brush fast!).
Equipment: Be cautious with hot tools or machinery near dry vegetation.
The ban remains in effect until further notice. Let’s work together to protect our homes, businesses, and neighbors.
📞 To report a violation: Please contact the Sheriff's Office Non-Emergency Line. 904-225-5174, or toll-free 855-725-2632
