Move Over. Slow Down. Save Lives.

This morning, Ferguson Fire Department apparatus 3015 was involved in a vehicle crash while responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated. Thankfully, no life-threatening injuries were reported.

The crash occurred after another vehicle failed to move over for the responding emergency vehicle.

This serves as an important reminder to all drivers: when you see emergency vehicles approaching with lights and sirens, MOVE OVER TO THE RIGHT and come to a complete stop until they safely pass.

Every second matters when first responders are responding to emergencies, and failing to yield not only delays critical care but also puts firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and the public at serious risk.

Please stay alert, avoid distractions while driving, and help us keep everyone safe on the road.

Today, members of the Ferguson Fire Department had the honor of paying tribute to Captain Tommy Shine as he was es**rted home. Crews from both houses took part in honoring Captain Shine by displaying the American flag over Interstate 270 as the es**rt traveled through our area. House 1, (3015, 3002) was positioned at the Elizabeth overpass alongside the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District, while House 2, (3024) stood at the West Florissant overpass with the Ferguson Police Department and Christian Hospital EMS.
We are grateful for the opportunity to stand in support of Captain Shine, his family, and the Wentzville Fire Protection District during this difficult time. Rest easy, Captain. Wentzville Firefighters

Today, the Ferguson Fire Department conducted a Smoke Detector Drive in the Dade Park neighborhood. With the support of our incredible partners — the American Red Cross of Missouri, Christian Hospital EMS, Ferguson Lions Club, Ferguson McDonald's , the Ferguson Police Department, and our City Council — we were able to make a real impact in the community.
Thanks to the dedication of nearly 40 volunteers, crews went door to door installing free smoke detectors, checking existing alarms, and providing gun locks to residents. This kind of outreach plays a critical role in keeping our community safe.
Events like this are a true reflection of what can be accomplished when organizations and community members come together with a shared goal. We appreciate everyone who gave their time to support this effort and help protect our residents.
Great job by all involved!
