Supports offered are geared toward moving families from simply surviving to thriving. Clara's Hope is a non-profit organization serving Genesee and Livingston counties. We work to fill in the gap between agencies and families by providing accessibility to supports and resources. We utilize volunteers to provide meals, housecleaning, small home repairs, and childcare for foster families. Our full t

ime social worker helps parents navigate court, explain paperwork and provide individual support to families through the ups & downs of foster care and adoption. One of our main focuses is providing trauma training to individuals, churches, and schools and working to connect the community to the needs of foster and adoptive families so they aren't walking through this alone.

Join us on Thursday, August 6, 2026 for an evening filled with fun, connection, food, activities, and encouragement for local foster and adoptive families.

This event is designed to create a space where families feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated. This is for any foster or adoptive family in Genesee or Livingston County.

There are several ways YOU can be part of making this event possible:

Kids who are in foster care are not just placed in licensed homes, but also with relatives and non-relative homes (called fictive kin). All of these types of foster families need support and help navigating the roller coaster ride of fostr care.

Clara's Hope can help by giving referrals to resources families aren't aware of. We seek not to duplicate what other organizations and resources offer, but to encourage and walk alongside local foster and adoptive families as well as help them connect to each other.

The average age of a child in foster care is 8 1/2 years old and the average time in foster care is just under 2 years.
Think about that- and now consider the foster family that says yes, we will take this child in for however long. With much uncertainty all around, the need for encouragement and a strong community of support is clear!
Clara's Hope seeks to help foster and adoptive families build that kind of community with each other and with the amazing volunteers who serve these families.

We are excited to share that our volunteer model is being revamped and will be re-launched in July. For now, please be sure to save the date of August 6 for our Summer Family Bash- our largest event of the year, which needs over 45 volunteers! Watch for more details to be released soon.
