📢 Protect Local Decision-Making

A package of bills currently being considered in Lansing (HB 5529-5531 and HB 5581-5585) would establish statewide zoning standards and limit local authority on issues such as lot sizes, home sizes, setbacks, duplexes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), parking requirements, and development review procedures.

If enacted, these bills could reduce the ability of residents and locally elected officials to make decisions about growth, development, and land use within their own communities by shifting certain zoning decisions from local governments to the state.

Residents who want to learn more about these proposals and their potential impact on local planning and zoning are encouraged to review the information available and contact their state legislators.
