Today, Friday June 12th, members of the Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company participated in Career Day at Federalsburg Elementary School. Approximately 95 students stopped by and had an opportunity to check out the personal protective gear and tools members use during fire responses and learn about equipment used by our personnel on emergency medical calls. The students were engaged and asked alot of question regarding what it takes to be a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician. Thank you to the staff at FES for the invite! See you this fall for Fire Prevention Week!

**Residential Structure Fire - Seaford DE**

On Tuesday evening May 9th at 806pm the Federalsburg Volunteers were alerted to respond mutual-aid to assist Seaford Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. with a residential structure fire in the 4200 block of Horseshoe Rd. Initial arriving units reported fire from an attached garage extending into the house.

Engine104 responded w/ 6 volunteers and upon arrival as the 4th Due Engine Company were directed by Command to extend a hoseline to Side Charlie (the rear of the house) in an attempt to cut off the extending fire. The crew of E104 made entry and was actively involved in fire suppression activities when Command ordered all crews out of the structure due to the structural integrity of the roof which began to collapse. Tanker106 responded and upon arrival assisted with water supply operations. Brush110 and Utility100 also responded with additional personnel to assist with the incident.

Units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.

Total FVFC personnel: 13

The Federalsburg Volunteer Fire Company cannot express how much we appreciate the residence of our town and district. Today we received a generous donation of water and Gatorade as we returned from an emergency response. Unfortunately, we failed to get the name of this amazing person. Please let us know your name, or if anyone knows this wonderful lady please tag her as we wanna let her know how much we appreciated the donation.

*Edited* Thank you so much Mrs. Elaine Hubbard! Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

🏁πŸ”₯ FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION, THE TRADITION CONTINUES β€” RACE DAY IS JUNE 6 IN FEDERALSBURG! πŸ”₯🏁

After an incredible Practice Day on May 17th, the excitement surrounding the Delmarva Soapbox Derby is only getting bigger!

THANK YOU to all the racers, families, volunteers, supporters, and community members who came out to make Practice Day such a fun and memorable experience. Seeing kids laughing, learning, racing, and building confidence reminded us exactly why events like this matter so much.

Soapbox Derby racing has a long history of bringing communities together through creativity, teamwork, sportsmanship, and hands-on learning. For generations, these races have inspired young people to dream big, try new things, and discover what they're capable of both on and off the track.

And now, that tradition continues right here in Federalsburg. πŸŽοΈπŸ’¨

On Sunday May 31st the Federalsburg Volunteers, along w/ Preston Volunteer Fire Company, conducted an acquired structure training session and controlled burn.
The training session was centered around hoseline management and fire extinguishment. Small fires were set inside the structure, then crews practiced advancing a hosline into the structure, and locating / extinguishing the set fires. Between evolutions personnel were rotated through rehabilitation where medical vitals were evaluated and crews were kept hydrated by the Federalsburg VFC Emergency Medical personnel.
Once the training sessions were completed the structures on the property were then burned down in a controlled manner. The traning is invaluable for our personnel as it simulates, as close as possible, what they will be experienced on an emergency incident.
