NOTICE OF PROPOSED WATER & SEWER RATE ADJUSTMENT PUBLIC HEARING – JUNE 22, 2026 AT 6PM

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Federalsburg will hold a Public Hearing during the June 22, 2026 Mayor and Council Meeting to consider proposed adjustments to the Town's water and sewer rates.

The Town understands that increases in utility costs affect households, and we do not take these decisions lightly. We recognize that many families are facing rising costs in multiple areas of daily life. At the same time, the Town must ensure that our water and wastewater systems remain safe, reliable, and financially sustainable for current and future generations.

Like many communities across Maryland and the nation, Federalsburg continues to experience increasing operational costs, infrastructure maintenance needs, regulatory requirements, equipment replacement expenses, and debt obligations associated with past and ongoing system improvements. These essential services operate around the clock and require continued investment to maintain the level of service our residents expect and deserve.

To help residents better understand the proposed adjustment, the example below illustrates the impact on a typical in-town residential customer using 9,000 gallons of water during a quarterly billing period (three months).

Example In-Town Residential Bill (9,000 Gallons Quarterly Usage):
πŸ’§ Current Quarterly Bill: $283.37
πŸ’§ Proposed Quarterly Bill: $328.91
πŸ’§ Increase: $45.54 per quarter

Please note that this example is provided for informational purposes only. Actual bills vary based on water consumption and account-specific charges.

The Town is committed to transparency throughout this process and encourages residents to review the information, attend the Public Hearing, ask questions, and provide comments before any action is taken.

🌟🏑 WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND FEDERALSBURG? 🏑🌟

Did you know there are a variety of events, programs, meetings, activities, and opportunities happening throughout our community each week?

From library programs and community resources to local events, volunteer opportunities, youth activities, faith-based gatherings, small business events, and more, there is often more happening than many people realize.

The Town of Federalsburg is pleased to share this Community Events & Opportunities roundup created by Federalsburg Better Together. The goal is to help connect residents with local events, organizations, resources, and opportunities while encouraging community involvement and engagement.

Many great events and programs happen throughout our community, but sometimes people simply don't hear about them. By bringing information together in one place, we hope to make it easier for residents to discover new opportunities, support local organizations and businesses, and stay connected to what's happening around town.

πŸ’¬ We would love your feedback!

Is this something you would like to see more of going forward?

Please let Federalsburg Better Together know in the comments. Your feedback will help determine whether these community event roundups continue and how they can best serve our residents.

If your organization, church, nonprofit, business, club, or community group has an upcoming event, activity, fundraiser, workshop, meeting, class, or opportunity, be sure to share it with Federalsburg Better Together so it can be included in future roundups and shared with the community.
