We had such a fantastic time out in the sunshine! A huge **thank you** to Emery for inviting South King Fire to be part of your birthday celebration at the park. There is nothing we love more than connecting with our neighbors on a beautiful day, and it was a joy to celebrate with you!
We also want to send a special shoutout to **Octavia** thank you so much for your incredible help at our booth! We couldn’t have managed the crowd or shared our fire safety tips nearly as effectively without your energy and support.

# # 🚒 Community Call to Action: Honor Our Fallen # #
**Join us in honoring the legacies of John Moncrife (July 21, 2012) and Vince Faranda (April 16th, 2017) **
At South King Fire, our commitment to the community goes beyond the fire line it’s about standing together when it matters most. To honor the memory of our fallen brothers due to Cancer, John Moncrife and Vince Faranda, we are hosting a memorial blood drive and we need **you** to help us save lives.
Every drop donated is a tribute to their service and the spirit of community they cherished. Let’s turn our remembrance into a powerful act of hope.
*Walk ins are welcome, but appointments are highly encouraged to ensure a smooth process for all donors.*
Let’s honor John and Vince by coming together to help our neighbors. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our crews responded to a two-vehicle MVA at the intersection of 340th St and Hoyt Rd earlier today.
We are happy to report that there were only minor injuries sustained by one of the drivers involved. Safety is always our top priority, but we also believe in serving our community in every way possible. After ensuring everyone was safe and the scene was secure, our team didn't want the customer's meal to go to waste so we stepped in to complete the Uber Eats delivery for the other driver.
A quick reminder to all our neighbors: please stay alert, slow down, and stay focused behind the wheel, especially at busy intersections. Let’s look out for one another out there!
Stay safe, Federal Way.

A Big Thank You to Federal Way Parks & Recreation! 🌳🚒
We had such a fantastic time connecting with our community this past Saturday at the **20th Annual Park Appreciation Day!**
A huge shoutout to **Federal Way Parks & Recreation** for hosting another incredible event and meeting Federal Way's new mascot, Dougie Fir.
It was an honor for South King Fire to participate, meet so many of our neighbors, and help water our beautiful local parks.
Events like this are a great reminder of how vibrant and committed our Federal Way community is to keeping our spaces clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. We love getting out from the fire engines and spending quality time with the families we serve!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hi, check out the gear, and learn about fire safety. We’re already looking forward to next year!

# # # 🚒 **Community Spotlight: Local Kindness in Motion** 🚒
We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of
**SKF Firefighter Niki Fausset** for her incredible donation of a literal truckload of weighted blankets to the **South King Firefighter Foundation**.
Weighted blankets are more than just a cozy gift; they are vital tools for providing comfort, reducing anxiety, and helping people feel secure during incredibly difficult times.
**The Ripple Effect of Giving**
In the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, the Foundation has officially delivered these blankets to our partners at **FUSION** (Friends United to Shelter the Indigent, Oppressed, and Needy) right here in Federal Way.
These blankets will now go directly to families and individuals in FUSION’s housing programs, providing physical and emotional warmth to those working hard to rebuild their lives.

# # 🚒 South King Fire | Community Spotlight
Last week was nothing short of inspiring! We want to extend a massive **THANK YOU** to every student, mentor, and partner who joined us for the latest **Melanin and Medicine** event. Seeing our community’s youth engage directly with BIPOC healthcare professionals and first responders reminds us why we do this work.
Melanin and Medicine has officially become a cornerstone initiative for our partners at **Build 2 Lead**. This program is vital for:
**Direct Connection: ** Linking Black and Brown youth with mentors who share their lived experiences.
**Career Pathways: ** Opening doors to both traditional and nontraditional medical and emergency service careers.
**Workforce Access: ** Providing tangible opportunities for mentorship and long-term career success right here in King County.
To the future doctors, nurses, paramedics, and firefighters we met: **The future of healthcare looks bright because you are in it. **
"Empowerment isn't just about giving a speech; it's about providing a seat at the table and a clear path to get there."
Huge shoutout to **Build 2 Lead** for their incredible leadership and for allowing us to be a part of this journey. We are proud to support a more equitable and diverse future for our workforce.

As we get ready to move those clocks ahead, this is also a great time to test your smoke alarms!
A working smoke alarm is the best way you can protect yourself and your family from a home fire.
⏰Remember:
Once a month: Test your smoke alarm! Press the button, if you hear a BEEP, good to go. If you don't, you need new batteries or a new alarm.
Once a year: Put brand new batteries in all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms!
Once a decade: Check the date on the back of your alarms. If they are 10 years old or older, it needs to be replaced!
🏠Help a Neighbor:
If you have an elderly neighbor or a family member with limited mobility, reach out and offer to help with their alarms. A few minutes of your time could save a life.
Stay safe, stay vigilant, and enjoy that extra hour of evening sunlight! ☀️
