Though I couldn’t attend, I want to express my gratitude to the South King Fire Department for organizing yesterday’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony. Your commitment to honoring the victims, survivors, and first responders is deeply appreciated.

September 11 is a day we will never forget—marked by immense tragedy, but also by the extraordinary bravery and unity that followed. The sacrifices made by first responders and the resilience of the American spirit remain an enduring source of inspiration.

While I wasn’t there in person, I stand with you in remembrance of those we lost and in appreciation for the service and dedication shown by this community. Let us continue to honor their memory by fostering unity and compassion in our daily lives.

- Greg Baruso, Chair
South King Fire
Board of Commissioners

PC: Office of Mayor Jim Ferrell

I wanted to take a moment to say - Thank you, Federal Way, WA, and Des Moines, Washington for voting to support our firefighters.

To learn more about the levy- check out the info below and visit: https://wa-southkingfire2.civicplus.com/304/Fire-Benefit-Charge

The official results are in and 65.28% of voters have approved South King Fire’s Prop. 1, the Fire Benefit Charge (FBC).

We are deeply grateful for the strong support from our communities. The approval of the FBC allows us to move forward with a more sustainable plan for the future.

By adopting the FBC, we will replace an outdated funding model that relied heavily on property taxes subject to fluctuations that created a "cycle of uncertainty". The FBC offers a fairer and more stabilized funding approach, equipping us with the necessary resources to meet the growing demand for our services and better serve our communities.

Our commitment to you remains steadfast: to provide the critical services you depend on while responsibly managing taxpayer dollars.

We will continue to keep you informed about the next steps in implementing the FBC.

South King Fire sincerely thanks our communities for their ongoing support. It is an honor to serve you!
