Today, members of the Federal Heights Fire Department were honored to welcome the family of Sgt. Frank Turek as they stopped by to donate gifts for local children this holiday season.

Sgt. Turek proudly served with the Federal Heights Police Department for more than 30 years, and his spirit of giving continues through his familyโ€™s generosity and dedication to our community. We are grateful to his family for carrying on this meaningful holiday tradition and helping spread joy to children throughout Federal Heights.

12/17 Update:
A Public Safety Power Shutoff is not currently expected to occur in Federal Heights. However, high winds are still forecast, and residents may still experience weather-related power outages.

The City of Federal Heights will continue to monitor conditions and coordinate with Xcel Energy and public safety partners. Additional updates will be shared as needed.

Public Safety Advisory โ€“ Potential Power Outages

Xcel Energy has advised that extreme wind and dry conditions are expected on Wednesday, December 17, which may result in a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in parts of the metro area, including Federal Heights. These shutoffs are used to reduce wildfire risk during dangerous weather conditions.

If a shutoff occurs, power restoration will begin after weather conditions improve and required safety inspections are completed. Restoration could take several hours or longer depending on conditions.

More information and ongoing updates from Xcel Energy are available here:

The City of Federal Heights is monitoring the situation and coordinating with Xcel Energy and public safety partners. If outages are prolonged, the City may open the City Hall Community Room as a temporary place of refuge for residents. Additional details will be shared if needed.

We will continue to update residents as the situation unfolds.

What a great turnout for this yearโ€™s Santa Candy Giveaway! ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„ Our crews loved seeing families lined up along the route, waving and celebrating as Santa made his way through the community.

This event wouldnโ€™t be possible without the teamwork behind the scenes, and weโ€™re thankful for everyone who helped make the day run smoothly. A special thank you to our volunteers for their time and dedication, to the Mayor for coming out to support the event, to the Police Department for their partnership throughout the day, and of course to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to spread holiday cheer.

Weโ€™re proud to serve such a wonderful city and be part of traditions that bring everyone together. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿฌ
