COMMUNITY MOSQUITO CONTROL

Fayetteville is launching an individual, community-wide mosquito control effort to help reduce mosquito populations and protect public health throughout our town. The City will be using BTI mosquito dunks - a safe, targeted and environmentally friendly approach for controlling mosquito larvae in standing water. The City will be placing BTI mosquito dunks in public standing-water areas such as drainage ditches, retention ponds and other locations where mosquitos commonly breed.

Residents can help by eliminating standing water in containers, buckets, birdbaths or anything that holds water for more than 3 days.

BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) is a natural occurring bacterium that targets mosquito larvae without harming people, pets, fish or beneficial insects like bees and fireflies. It is one of the most effective and environmentally responsible tools for community mosquito control.

Fayetteville will begin placing BTI dunks immediately and continue
treatments throughout the warm weather months.
