Today, Fayetteville joins communities across the country in recognizing, honoring, and celebrating Juneteenth.

Juneteenth marks the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. It stands as both a celebration of freedom and a reminder of the work required to build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Happy Juneteenth, Fayetteville!

The goal is simple: if you show up to ride the bus, there should be a place to sit.

Today, Mayor Rawn was excited to recognize the partnership of Fayetteville Strong. The local group is creating more places to sit through the installation of community art benches at transit stops across Fayetteville.

These benches are a great example of what can happen when we all work together!
Residents, transit providers, and the City continue to work together to improve everyday experiences with public transportation.

Our thanks to Fayetteville Strong, Ozark Regional Transit, Razorback Transit, and our City staff for their partnership and commitment to our community.

This park is still being designed, and we want to hear from you! Take a few minutes to share your thoughts through our online survey: https://speakup.fayetteville-ar.gov/

Your feedback will help guide future design decisions. We're looking at many options for the park area; however, public fishing is NOT an option as the ponds are private property.

⚠️ Severe weather and heavy rainfall are possible across Northwest Arkansas all weekend, bringing an increased risk of flash flooding.

Flash floods can develop quickly and with little warning. Never drive through flooded roadways, walk through moving water, or go around barricades.

If you encounter a flooded road, remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Take a few minutes to review these safety reminders from our City Emergency Manager.

We are incredibly proud to share that Ross Jackson Jr., Fleet Operations Superintendent for the City of Fayetteville, has been named the 2026 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year by Government Fleet magazine!

Ross received the honor at the Government Fleet Expo & Conference, where a national panel of fleet managers evaluated candidates on everything from technology implementation and preventive maintenance to safety, fuel management, and customer service.

This recognition is a testament to Ross's dedication and the excellence he brings to our City's fleet operations every day. Congratulations, Ross, Fayetteville is lucky to have you!

One of Fayetteville's least-known programs is also one of its hardest-working.

Food scraps that would otherwise end up in the landfill are collected and composted instead. Our partners at locally owned and operated Ozark Compost & Swap will come right to your curb and bring you a new bucket every two weeks.

We're challenging our community to add 100 new households by July 1.

Coffee grounds and tea bags. Banana peels and apple cores. Avocado skins. Bread. Pasta. Rice. Crackers. Cereal. Chips. Leftover pizza. Cheese and yogurt. Eggshells. Chicken bones. Fish bones. Seafood shells. Paper napkins. Paper towels. There's a full list of accepted items on our website.

Instead of tossing them in the trash, participating households collect food waste separately for weekly pickup. It's a simple change that can have a big impact.
