PUBLIC NOTICE: LEAF COLLECTION SEASON

The City’s annual leaf collection begins in October and concludes at the end of February. Please be advised that:

1) The final day for leaf collection is February 28.

2) The city utilizes heavy-duty machinery that is costly to operate and maintain. Consequently, crews cannot be dispatched for small, individual piles out of season.

Residents are encouraged to plan their yard work accordingly to ensure leaves are ready for collection during the active season.

Just a friendly reminder of our trash pickup policies.

CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE
GARBAGE POLICY AND CART REPLACEMENT

Recycle Center is located at 705 South Main Avenue. You can take any of your plastics ( #1 and #2),
plastic shopping bags, newspapers/magazines/books, shredded paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, cell
phones/computers and Latex paint cans. When you make the effort to separate and recycle your trash
rather than throw it away, you are helping the environment.

The City of Fayetteville will provide a 96-gallon cart to each residence within the city limits,
and it is to stay with the home. If you need an additional garbage cart, it will be your
responsibility to purchase the garbage cart and there will be an additional sanitation charge on
your bill each month.

Each resident is responsible for the proper care and security of the garbage carts. Customers will
be charged a fee to replace carts that are damaged or destroyed other than through normal usage.

Residential garbage will be collected once per week. ALL TRASH MUST BE BAGGED IN THE GARBAGE CART
WITH THE LID CLOSED. If a resident has more garbage than will fit in cart with the lid closed,
resident is urged to purchased extra cart. We WILL NO LONGER BE PICKING LOOSE BAGS UP OFF THE
GROUND. (We are not responsible for loose trash flying out of the truck!).

We urge customers to clean carts periodically to keep foul odors down. Please place your carts
within 2 feet of the curb with the handle toward your home. Please keep all carts at least 3 feet
apart from each other and away from any other obstructions.

Garbage carts should be out by the curb/street the night before a scheduled pick-up and moved away
from the curb/street as soon as possible after pick-up. Garbage carts not out when our driver
arrives will not be our responsibility.

Any boxes put in the garbage cart should be torn down. Do not stuff whole boxes in the garbage
cart. Another truck will pick boxes up off the ground. Please do not overfill or tightly pack
items in the cart as this will cause damage.
Absolutely NO dirt, sod, toilets/commodes, rocks, mulch, concrete, bricks,
remodel/construction debris, paint, oil, hot ashes, dead animals (weighing more
han 10 lbs.), etc… should be inside the garbage carts.
