Thank you all, especially Ms. Pinckney and Mr. Young, for allowing me to facilitate a session during the Tighten It Up Men's Event. I truly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with such an outstanding group of fathers, mentors, and leaders.
Our session on Discipline and Consistency: Lead by Consistency, Not Intensity generated meaningful dialogue, honest reflection, and practical strategies for growth. Together, we discussed the importance of prioritizing what matters most, a principle drawn from Stephen Covey's Habit 3: Put First Things First. We explored how many of life's most important responsibilities—our families, relationships, health, and personal growth—often fall into what Covey calls Quadrant II: Important but Not Urgent. These are the areas that don't demand our immediate attention but have the greatest long-term impact on our lives and families.
We also discussed the power of small, consistent habits and how intentional actions, repeated over time, produce lasting results. Through habit stacking and practical planning, participants identified specific ways to become more present, more disciplined, and more intentional in their leadership at home.
What encouraged me most was seeing men honestly evaluate areas where improvement is needed while also recognizing areas where they have grown, matured, and made significant progress. Growth begins with awareness, and the men left empowered, encouraged, and committed to taking the next step in their journey as fathers and leaders.
Thank you again for the opportunity to be a part of this impactful event. Together, we are building stronger men, stronger families, and stronger communities—one intentional habit at a time.
I believe every man in our community deserves to be part of this great event. This is something, I believe, can grow. Keep building it, and they will come.
