🚧 Contractors for the City of Fayetteville Public Works Division are milling and repaving Fisher Avenue and portions of Johnson Avenue and Lee Street from Monday, September 14, 2026, through Thursday, September 17, weather permitting. Traffic on affected streets will be limited to a single lane, and traffic control devices will be in place. Motorists may experience some delays.

All of Fisher Avenue will be milled and paved. Johnson Avenue will be milled and paved from the Lee Street intersection to the South Jeff Davis Drive intersection. Lee Street will be milled and paved from the East Stonewall Avenue (Highway 54) intersection to the Melear Way/Center Drive intersection.

Please use caution in the area for the safety of the workers, pedestrians, and motorists.

The Fayetteville Police Department and the Fayetteville Fire Department partnered together to climb Stone Mountain for the 12th annual 911 Tribute to honor and remember the brave Brothers and Sister of First Responders that died that day.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember. We will never forget.

🚧 PARKING AND ACCESS NOTICE FOR CITY CENTER PARK 🚧

The City of Fayetteville will temporarily restrict parking around City Center Park Friday and Saturday, September 11 and 12, 2026, to accommodate the 25th Anniversary 9/11 Commemoration & Tribute event as well as a 5K fundraiser for Fayetteville Police Lieutenant Ernest Stanley. There will also be limited access to City Center Parkway from 11 p.m. on Friday through 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

All parking closures and access restrictions will be clearly posted.

Guests participating in the Friday and Saturday events are welcome to park around Fayetteville City Hall and at the Fayette County Public Library, which are both adjacent to City Center Park. Additional parking is available one block away at the Fayette County Government Complex.

🚧 Key Logistics & Road Closures 🚧

Parking Restrictions: Beginning Friday, September 11, at 7 a.m., the City of Fayetteville will close all designated "No Parking" zones. These areas will remain closed through Saturday, September 12, 12:30 p.m. to accommodate both the Friday evening 9/11 event and the Saturday morning 5K event for Lieutenant Earnest Stanley.

Park Entrance Closure: The park entrance located between Fayetteville City Hall and the Fayetteville City Cemetery will be closed on Friday, September 11, 11 p.m. through Saturday, September 12, 12:30 p.m.

Please be advised that drivers should expect traffic delays on Tuesday, September 8th, beginning around 4:30 p.m. as a funeral procession for Warm Springs Police Officer, Sergeant Fisher travels from Flat Creek Baptist Church to Mowell’s Funeral Home.

The procession will include numerous law enforcement and emergency service vehicles, and traffic may be temporarily slowed or stopped along the procession route.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution around the procession. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community as we come together to honor Sergeant Fisher.

Please see the updated picture of the procession route in honor of Sgt. Fisher. The procession will depart from Flat Creek Trail and travel along Highway 54, turning left onto Jeff Davis Road. The procession will then turn left again and continue to Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville, where the procession will conclude.

The Spray Pad at City Center Park (located at 210 Stonewall Avenue West, Fayetteville, GA 30214) will be OPEN on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Spray Pad will remain open for the month of September (Saturdays and Sundays only) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will officially close for the season on September 27th at 7 p.m.
