⚠️ Weather Update: CCS Closed Monday, March 16, 2026

Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will be closed for all students and employees on Monday, March 16, 2026, due to predicted severe weather conditions.

Weather forecasts indicate the potential for severe storms, including strong wind gusts and possible tornadoes 🌪️. Out of an abundance of caution, the district made this decision to help ensure the safety of students, employees and families.

🚫 Schools Closed – No school for students and employees
🏀 After-school activities/events canceled – This includes all athletic practices and events scheduled for Monday
⏰ Prime Time – Closed

Students enrolled in college courses at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College or through College Connections should follow guidance from their school principal.

CCS will continue to prioritize the safety of students, staff and families. Any additional updates will be shared with families through the ParentLink mass notification system, as well as on the district’s website and social media channels.

Please help us in congratulating our 11 fourth and fifth grade students who competed at the district Battle of the Books competition today! The team has been practicing since October, staying after school on Fridays, and collectively reading 16 books. Today they were able to show their stuff and came home with a 5th place win! We are so proud! Readers make leaders!

March is Reading Month and we have officially kicked off our month-long Read-a-Thon! We are ready to turn pages, reach goals, and celebrate our amazing Tiger readers! This is more than a fundraiser… it’s a school-wide reading adventure filled with excitement, prizes, and lots of book love!

Good reading habits start from a young age! Did you know that reading for just 20 minutes a day exposes children to 1,800,000 words every year?

Share with friends and family, cheer your reader on, and get ready to celebrate milestones together. Let’s show everyone what Ben Martin Tigers can do when we READ!

🚨 Weather Update 🚨
As a precautionary measure due to the potential for overnight inclement weather, and after assessing school facilities and county roads, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will operate on a two-hour delay for students and school-based staff on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026.

• Schools will begin two hours later than their normal start time
• Buses will run on a two-hour delay schedule
• Morning Prime Time and breakfast will not be available
• Afternoon Prime Time will operate as scheduled
• Twelve-month employees at schools and Central Services should report at their regular time

We will continue to monitor weather conditions and prioritize the safety of students, staff and families. Any updates will be shared through ParentLink and posted on our website and social media channels.

Cumberland County Schools will continue asynchronous remote instruction for students on Wednesday, Feb. 4, as hazardous road conditions and ongoing cold temperatures persist.

✔️ Students will complete assignments online or using school-provided paper packets, at their own pace
✔️ No live classes or required login times
✔️ District and school offices will open on a two-hour delay for 12-month school-based and district employees; all other employees will work remotely
✔️ All after-school activities and Prime Time are canceled
Elementary and middle school students will have five days to complete assignments. High school students will have three days.

📣 CCS Inclement Weather Update: Cumberland County Schools will operate on an asynchronous remote learning day on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026. All after-school activities are canceled, Prime Time is closed, and district offices and buildings will be closed, with staff working remotely.

During the asynchronous remote learning day, students will complete grade-level assignments prepared by their teachers. There will be no live video sessions or required login times, and students are expected to work independently at their own pace. Assignments may be digital and posted in Canvas, Google Classroom or other school-approved platforms, or provided as paper packets sent home prior to the weather event.
