We were overjoyed to recognize our incredible GALs in honor of Volunteer Appreciation Month!! Every year we look forward to celebrating with good food and fellowship. Thank you to each of our GALs for serving as advocates for our community's abused and neglected children. You truly are changing the world, one child at at time and we are so very thankful to work alongside you!!

What an eventful morning! Supervisor Heidi Choice along with Guardians ad Litem Vanessa Fields and Marcia Katt enjoyed breakfast together at Max and Moritz Bakery while Supervisor Christy Reich Williamson and Attorney Advocate Marlo Thaggard-O'Tuel spent quality time with Guardians ad Litem Bria Walters, Alexis Williams, Queen Wheeler, Robyn Perry, and Shona Phillips at Starbucks! It is always wonderful to get together to brainstorm, collaborate, and enjoy each other's company!

This past Friday some of our newest Guardians ad Litem had the distinct privilege to participate in an in-person swearing-in ceremony with District Court Judge Frances Britt presiding. Thank you, Judge Britt, for sharing your time and encouragement with our final class of 2025!! And thank you to our newest GALs. We are truly honored to work with you!!

The Cumberland County Guardian ad Litem Program proudly announces the swearing-in of 20 new Guardians ad Litem from our final class of 2025!! Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Munisha Adams, Alexis Williams, Anthony Young, Aquaria Ross, C**a Doub, Crystal Roper, Donna Albaugh, Emily Douponce-Thompson, Howard Hogan, Katherine Smalls, Kathryn Leonard, Kristin Tyson, Marisa Sendek, Shanita McNeill, Tamika Morris, Taylor Love, Treneika Jackson, Ulyssa Johnson, Xylia Horgan, and Yasmyne Vann!! We are so very thankful for your willingness to serve as advocates for the abused and neglected children of our community and we are thrilled to work alongside you.

We also want to thank District Court Judge Frances Britt and Attorney Advocate Marlo Thaggard-O'Tuel for sharing their encouragement and words of wisdom with our new class. We extend an extra special thank you to Judge Britt for overseeing our swearing-in and administering the oath to our class!!

The Cumberland County Guardian ad Litem Program is ecstatic to announce the swearing-in of our 15 newest GALs!! Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Violet Alexander, Jocelynn Blackman, Diane Davis, Destiny Gilliard, Amy Goodrich, Kishla Jones-Gibbs, Eddriz King, Deborah King, Michelle King, Tamia Padilla, Shona Phillips, Eva Rhodes, Dr. Toni Stewart, Arthur Walker, and Shaquila "Monae" Williams!! Thank you for choosing to commit your time and energy to advocate for the best interest of our community's abused and neglected children. The children will surely be blessed by your service and as staff, we consider ourselves fortunate to work alongside you!!

The Cumberland County Guardian ad Litem Program surely stays busy!!

Even though the Fayetteville Woodpeckers game got rained out on August 1st, GALs Tristan Ross and Sue Aycock along with Attorney Advocate Marlo Thaggard-O'Tuel and Supervisor Christy Reich Williamson were able to visit and enjoy each other's company.

On August 14th GALs Dale Paschall, Marcia Katt, Vanessa Thornton, Risi Greene, Christina Rivas, and Tammy Singer joined Supervisor Heidi Choice at Max and Moritz German Restaurant and received the Court Report Templates booklet and the Youth Guide to NC GAL Program pamphlets to share with their teenagers.

Stay tuned for more exciting news on Friday as our newest class of advocates will be sworn in!!

The Cumberland County Guardian ad Litem Program has had a lot of excitement so far this summer!!

GALs Dale Paschall, Vanessa Fields, and Marcia Katt and Supervisor Heidi Choice enjoyed coffee together at Max & Moritz German Restaurant. Supervisor Heidi Choice brought awareness to our need for more GALs at an outreach event at the Senior Center. GALs Sonji Clyburn, Robyn Perry, Queen Wheeler, Jasmine Ake, Rachel Reon, and Tristan Ross brainstormed together during a team meeting at Starbucks with Supervisor Christy Reich Williamson and Attorney Advocate Marlo Thaggard-O'Tuel.

We look forward to more exciting things to come!!
