Some losses hit differently. This is one of those.

We will always remember Sergeant Fisher as a law enforcement officer, a friend, a brother, a dad, and someone who will always be a part of the Fayette County community.

For seven years, Fisher wore the badge of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. For seven years, we had the privilege of working beside him, getting to know him, sharing good days and difficult ones, and building the kind of friendships and bonds that only those who serve together can truly understand.

Fisher dedicated his life to serving others. He answered the call when it mattered most and ultimately made the greatest sacrifice a law enforcement officer can make.

Rest easy, Sgt. Fisher. Your watch is over, but your service and sacrifice will live on forever.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his brothers and sisters at the Warm Springs Police Department, and every person fortunate enough to have known and worked alongside him.

UPDATE - 9/2/2026: BLUE ALERT CANCELED

At about 11:39 a.m., the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car in Anderson, SC. Steverson was a passenger in the car

When law enforcement made contact with the car, they discovered Steverson injured from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Steverson was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

A BLUE ALERT has been issued for Jimmie Steverson, age 23. Steverson is wanted for the death of Chris Fisher, a Warm Springs Police Department officer, that occurred on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. in Warm Springs, GA.

Steverson is a black male, 5’6”, 150 lbs, with black locs and brown eyes. He was last seen in Warm Springs, GA, on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. Steverson was wearing a black t-shirt and black gym shorts. He was traveling in a 2026 black Chevrolet Silverado.

Steverson is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or see any suspicious activity, please take immediate precautions and notify 911.
