It's One Day, One UofA 2026 and the Department of Chemical Engineering is participating with the college to Safeguard Student Success with the College of Engineering! You can read more about this initiative at:

From the Safeguard Student Success project page:

In the College of Engineering, we solve problems together, including those that arise outside the classroom.

The College of Engineering student success funds provide critical financial assistance to engineering students facing challenges that tuition and financial aid don't cover. Each academic department within the College has a dedicated fund available, so you can choose the engineering area you would like to support.

Unexpected hardships like housing instability, food insecurity, and medical emergencies can derail a dedicated student's academic journey in an instant. But barriers to success aren't always emergencies. Students also need support for conference travel, research project supplies, and professional development opportunities that are essential to their growth as engineers.

These funds address both needs: short-term emergency support to help students navigate crisis moments, and investment in the academic and professional experiences that prepare them for their careers. No engineering student should have to choose between their basic needs and their education, and no student should miss a formative opportunity because of cost alone. Support like this helps students stay enrolled when an unexpected bill might otherwise have forced them to drop out.

To ensure every student has access to this vital support, each academic department within the College of Engineering maintains a dedicated fund for its students, with resources specifically allocated to support them. This ensures that help is always available and tailored to the unique needs of students within each engineering discipline.https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7448086996419387392

Your gift can make the difference!

The College of Engineering is rallying support to help students overcome financial challenges that tuition and aid don't always cover. Every department has its own fund, so you can give to the area that means the most to you.

These funds provide emergency support when crisis moments hit and invest in the academic and professional experiences that prepare students for their careers. No student should have to choose between their basic needs and their education, and no student should miss a formative opportunity because of cost alone.

Hog calling all alums and friends of the department.

There is a competition among the engineering departments to see who gets the most participation in our giving day event: One Day, One U of A 2026.

Good news: At the moment, Chemical is in 1st place with 14 gifts totaling $6,485. But that could all change. So please contribute. All size gifts help.

That bring me to the next point. Chemical Engineering is currently just 11 gifts away from activating a $2,500 challenge match.

Help us add to our total and win this competition. Here is the giving link:

Chemical engineering junior Sage Paschall presented his work at the Arkansas STEM Posters at the Capitol event last week! Said Sage about his work: "The project is focused on incorporating probability-based machine learning tools into molecular simulations. We use the models to make precise predictions of molecular structures."

Sage's research was advised by Assistant Professor Jacob Monroe. The full title of his poster was "A Probabilistic Approach to Multiscale Simulation: Evaluating Machine-Learned Backmapping Models of Diphenylalanine."

Sage is a double major in chemical engineering and physics, with a minor in mathematics.

This is not a post about high blood pressure because it is Valentine's weekend.
It's not a post about high blood pressure because it is Friday the 13th.
This is a post about high blood pressure and hypertension because research led by associate professor Dr. Will Richardson has developed a new AI tool to diagnose masked hypertension.
