Have you taken the time to go vote ??? It's not to late. Early voting ends on Saturday, July 23, 2022. General election is scheduled for July 26, 2022 from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. This is our municipal election. Just as important as the presidential election. There are many issues pressing in our communities. Please take the time to research which candidate will best serve your district.

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of retired Sheriff Earl R. Butler.

Sheriff Earl “Moose” Butler passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 20, 2022.

Please keep the Butler family, friends and the members of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

On Wednesday, March 23, 2022, a Public Viewing will be held at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey Street Fayetteville, NC 28301, from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm.

Celebration of Sheriff Earl R. Butler's Life Services will be on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 2 pm at Massey Hill Baptist Church (Limited seating capacity) 1027 Southern Avenue, Fayetteville, NC 28306.

The interment will follow with a private graveside service.

The family requests that memorials be made to Falcon Children's Home 7569 N. West Street Falcon, NC 28342 and the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center 123 W. Franklin Street, Suite 510, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.

NOTE: Covid-19 Policy Updates

👮 Fayetteville Police Administrative Building lobby at 467 Hay Street is temporarily closed to the public
🐕 Cumberland County NC Animal Shelter is Closed to the public and by appointment only
🏥 Cape Fear Valley Health has updated their visitation policy to one visitor between 12-8pm for non-covid patients and 4-8pm for one covid patients. No visitors in the ER waiting room. Be prepared for covid screening and to show your vaccination card when visiting LTAC patients.
🏫 Methodist University Spring 2022 semester delayed until Jan. 18
🏫 Fayetteville State University Spring 2022 semester delayed until Jan. 19
🏫 UNC Pembroke will delay Spring 2022 semester until Jan 18
👨‍⚕ CDC guidance now states anyone who is covid-19 positive can quarantine for 5 days if there's no symptoms, and another 5 days of effectively using masks after that quarantine.
