Did you know there are 8 planets in our solar system that orbit the Sun? Each planet is unique and has amazing features to explore!

🌟 Quick Facts
☀️ The Sun is a star at the center of our solar system.
🪐 Jupiter is the largest planet.
💍 Saturn is famous for its beautiful rings.
🌎 Earth is the only known planet that supports life.
🔴 Mars is known as the Red Planet.
🌊 Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun.

📚 Parents, take a few minutes today to review the planets with your child. Ask them:
⭐ Can you name the planets in order from the Sun?
⭐ Which planet do we live on?
⭐ Which planet is the largest?
⭐ Why does the Sun appear brighter than other stars?

𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐓𝐎 𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓!

What a fantastic way to kick off the summer! Nearly 𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 joined us today for the first day of Jefferson County School District’s 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬, and the energy, excitement, and learning were absolutely incredible!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
From engaging lessons using 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 (𝐇𝐐𝐈𝐌) to hands-on STEM experiences, creative arts activities, literacy enrichment, and interactive learning centers, our scholars were actively learning, exploring, and having fun every step of the way. The smiles, curiosity, and enthusiasm on display today reminded us that learning truly has no limits!⁣⁣

Adding to the excitement, 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞 stopped by to visit with scholars and surprised one lucky student with a $𝟏𝟎𝟎 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 just for showing up and participating!⁣⁣

• 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.⁣⁣
• Students may arrive beginning at 7:30 a.m.⁣⁣
• Located on the Triplex Campus⁣⁣
• Free breakfast and lunch provided⁣⁣
• Free transportation provided⁣⁣

This summer, we are 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 for the next level of success. Thank you to our dedicated teachers, leaders, staff, parents, and scholars for making Day One a huge success!⁣⁣

🐯 5th Grade Science Lesson of the Day: Photosynthesis

Did you know that plants make their own food? Photosynthesis is the process plants use to turn sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into food (glucose) and oxygen!

🔬 What Plants Need:
☀️ Sunlight
💧 Water
🌬️ Carbon Dioxide

🌿 What Plants Produce:
🍃 Food (Glucose) for growth
💨 Oxygen for us to breathe

⭐ Fun Fact: Nearly all living things depend on photosynthesis for food and oxygen. Without it, life on Earth would not exist!

• Why is sunlight important for plants?
• Where do plants get water?
• Why is oxygen important for people and animals?
