Notice of Public Hearing

The Surrey Township Zoning board of appeals has received an appeal from Harmoni Towers LLC for a dimensional variance (height/setback) to construct and operate a Telecommunication facility (Cell Tower) at 8451 S Finley Lake Ave. in Surrey Township, Clare County, MI 48622, being Parcel Number: 014-014-100-07

The public hearing will be held on June 3rd at 6:00 PM in the Surrey Township Meeting room, located at 110 E. Michigan St. Farwell, MI 48622 to take public comments. If you are unable to attend and wish to comment, you can submit written comments to Surrey Township, P.O. Box 647, Farwell, MI 48622, Attn. Zoning Administrator, or drop them off at the township office during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM. You can place in the drop box outside the clerk’s office or in person at the office until 5 P.M June 3rd. All information for this appeal is available at the township office during regular business hours noted above.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MSHDA-Community Development Block Grant
The Surrey Township Board will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, May 7,
2026, at 8:30 a.m. in the Surrey Township Hall, 110 E. Michigan, to
review/approve the MSHDA - Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in
the amount of $236,000, of which $200,000 will directly address the urgent
need for critical repairs to homes owned by low- and moderate-income
families. Categories include internal and external repairs needed to meet
code and health and safety improvements. The repairs are designed to
minimize displacement. The proposed Homeowner Rehabilitation project
activities are voluntary; participating homeowners are responsible for
arranging and paying for any temporary relocation during required repairs.
Surrey Township has never previously participated in a CDBG. The estimated
submission date is May 8, 2026
Copies of the Grant are available for public inspection at the Clerk's office at
110 E. Michigan, Farwell, Michigan during regular business hours.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

MSHDA-Community Development Block Grant

The Surrey Township Board will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Surrey Township Hall, 110 E. Michigan, to review/approve the MSHDA-Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $200,000 which will directly address the urgent need for repairs and renovations to homes owned by low-and moderate-income working families. The activities are designed to minimize displacement. Should any displacement occur, services will be provided in collaboration with existing programs in the community who serve displaced individuals.

Copies of the Grant are available for public inspection at the Clerk’s office at 110 W. Michigan, Farwell, Michigan during regular business hours.

An ordinance to amend Surrey Township Zoning Ordinance 17, Article V, Section 502, Uses
Permitted by Special Exception,
Section I
Article V, Agricultural/ Rural Residential, Section 502,Uses permitted by Special Exception:
1. Add Number 23: Wireless Communication Support Facilities,
2. Re-enumeration of numbers 23, number 24,
3. Number 24, Accessory uses, buildings and structures customarily incidental to the uses
permitted by special exception,
4. Number 25, Other similar uses as shall be determined the Planning Commission and
listed nowhere else in this ordinance.
Section II
This ordinance shall take effect on 8 days after publication All
Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed.
