Based on collective memories, a stay at Eggers and Company General Store B & B is reminiscent of visiting grandparents in the country. After a pleasant drive through the beautiful countryside of eastern Perry County, the story of rural America in the mid 1900’s unfolds as you step across the threshold. The General Store with house attached is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and

has been lovingly restored by owners Ellen and Steve Frye. Ellen’s grandfather, Martin ”Tom” Eggers and his brother Walt were the store owners from 1920 through 1966. Many original artifacts remain in tribute to the Eggers family, the town of Farrar and rural America in those decades.

Grandmother’s Flower Garden – Eggers and Company General Store Bed & Breakfast

Owned by Steve and Ellen Frye, Eggers & Company General Store Bed & Breakfast is filled with history and family memories. Ellen’s grandfather, Martin “Tom” Eggers, and his brother Walter owned and operated the store from 1920–1966. Today, many of the original artifacts remain, preserving the story of the Eggers family, the community of Farrar, and rural life during those decades.

The barn quilt features the “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” pattern. Its colors have special meaning—the greens can be found throughout the historic Eggers store, while the purple was inspired by an old apron belonging to Ellen’s grandmother, Ella, which Ellen still treasures today.

🧵 Another beautiful stop along the Perry County Barn Quilt Trail, where every quilt has a story to tell!
