Good evening, FMS Patriot Families,
This is your principal, Dr. Casey, with your weekly Patriot Update for the week of October 26th. I hope all of our Patriots have had a wonderful weekend!

I want to begin by recognizing our teachers for their continued work in Learning-Focused lesson planning and professional development. We appreciate their commitment to strengthening instruction and helping our students succeed. Great job, FMS staff!

Our Fall Climate Survey is available for parents to complete through Friday, October 30th. Links were shared again on our ClassDojo page last week. Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your feedback!

Our Academic Booster Club will sell Hershey โ€œBoo Barsโ€ Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 to 8:45 a.m. in the Gym Commons. Boo Bars cost $2 each and can be sent to a friend, a teacher, or yourself! They will be delivered on Friday, October 30th. Please bring exact change if possible, and help us spread some Halloween fun!

Monday, October 26th, is the last day to turn in picture money. Please have your student bring their payment, in the picture envelope, to the front office.

We are also celebrating Spirit Week! Here are our daily themes:
*Mondayโ€”Wear Orange: Show your support for Bullying Prevention Month.
*Tuesdayโ€”Throwback Tuesday: Dress in your favorite โ€™80s or โ€™90s styles.
*Wednesdayโ€”Teacher-Student Swap: Students, dress like your teachersโ€”think professional attire and lanyards! Teachers, dress like your studentsโ€”think hoodies and Crocs!
*Thursdayโ€”Sports Fanatics: Wear your favorite teamโ€™s jersey or colors.
*Fridayโ€”Character Day and Monster Mash-Up: Dress as a character from a novel, chapter book, or graphic novel, or match with a friend as a famous spooky duo. Face masks and inappropriate accessories are not permitted.

This week, we will wrap up our fall sports season. Congratulations to our football team on a great season!

On Monday, our cross-country team will compete in the championship meet at Boyd Lee Park. Also on Monday, our Volleyball Team will travel to A.G. Cox for a tiebreaker game. If FMS wins, the team will play Tuesday at C.M. Eppes. If FMS loses, the team will travel to Hope Middle. A potential championship game is scheduled for Thursday, with the location to be determined. Good luck, Patriots!

6th basketball tryouts will take place Thursday, October 29th. Girls will try out from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m., and boys will try out from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Boys must go home after school and return for their 5:00 p.m. tryout. All students must have a current sports physical on file before their tryout date to participate. Please contact our athletic directors with any questions. Information regarding our full tryout schedule has been posted on facebook and dojo.

A reminder to our students that Monday will be an A-Day.

Please join us Thursday, October 29th, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for our Title I Curriculum Showcase Night! Come see the incredible learning taking place in our classrooms. We will offer two sessions to help families with multiple students visit each childโ€™s classroom. Session one will run from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., and session two will run from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Finally, Friday, October 30th, is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Thank you, Patriot Families, for your continued support of Farmville Middle School! Letโ€™s have a great week, and remember: One Team, One Goal, No Limits!

Teamwork adds up at Farmville Middle School! โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

Students in Mr Donkorโ€™s math class worked together to create a number line, applying their understanding of rational numbers, opposites, and the role of zero. This collaborative activity helped students visualize how numbers are ordered and how their distance from zero connects to absolute value.

Proud of our Patriots for learning and problem-solving together! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
