Suffolk County Democratic Chairman Rich Schaffer provides no party support to his vast portfolio of candidates running for office in 2026.

If you talk to his vast number of Democratic candidates they will show you photos of Rich Schaffer laughing and hand shaking with numerous Republican elected officials at the Federal, state, county and town level.

Party insiders say Rich although he is a County Party Chairman he is a Town Supervisor first that has close working and personal and in some cases affectionate relationships with many Republicans.

Party insiders defending Rich says Long Island is changing and has become a Red territory and the County Party simply will not waste resources fighting Republican candidates he knows personally or areas he thinks Democrats cannot win which is the vast majority of Long Island.

Sadly year after year many Democratic candidates get selected to run for office with high hopes of winning and genuine concern for community. But that euphoria of running quickly hits a brick wall of neglect, gossip, negligence and outright hostility from the County Party.

Reformers say Rich has a serious conflict of interest and Rich lacks the courage to win elections as he has so many Republican friends on Long Island.

These candidates become so disillusioned.
The result is the Party instead of becoming a machine to help candidates turns into a grinder that pulverizes new and naive candidates who he calls condescendingly calls pop-ups who have no business in politics.

Many contend they would leave the Chairman alone but has such a bad track record on losing races especially in political years where Democrats are rising.

Rich is so afraid to call himself a Democrat even in his stronghold of Babylon. He calls his party Team Schaffer not the Democratic Party but he claims he has no ego.

Breaking News: Rich Schaffer has abandoned his entire Democratic Slate in Suffolk County again. It is an open secret.

Rich cannot fill all the candidate slots. Once he does most of these candidates get no contact or institutional help from Rich. Many candidates run isolated campaigns with no help from the county party. Many candidates do not even get invited to certain events.

All candidate union screenings are usually predetermined in terms of results and endorsements making patsy candidates pour their heart out as the
screeners smirk and smile knowing the outcome.

Each candidate must figure it out on their own: raise funds, mailers, design flyers and palm cards, design ads, how to create walkbooks, strategize on issues. The County Chairman does no training not even a check in call.

The entire County slate is neglected with a few candidates getting six figure support and the rest is left to navigate in the dark with literally a few hundred dollars.

If a candidate does become successful or have a chance of winning, Rich Schaffer will send county cronies to disrupt the campaign, spread rumors and gossip or simply tell the candidate to drop out or else.

Breaking News: Rich Schaffer doing nothing to help our Democratic Congressional Candidates for District 1 and 2. First Rich Schaffer sabotages his Countywide candidates and now it is being revealed that his Countywide Coordinated Campaign is ineffective in raising money or helping any candidates in the Democratic slate.

Rich Schaffer has betrayed his candidates. Campaign filings reveal little funds compared to Rich Schaffer who has multiple salaries.

Our Democratic Countywide Slate from Congress, to State Senate and Assembly to County are working hard to find but sadly have no real leadership or backing from Rich.

Rich Schaffer smiling after he plunged the proverbial knife in the back of his County Clerk and County Comptroller Candidates. Rich is desperately making the rounds to appear to be a Suffolk County Democratic Chair. Insiders say he loves to make the deals but he sorely underestimated the backlash. But to outsiders seeing how corrupt Trump and Maga are…. they are floored how anyone could be helping Republicans in this cycle. Even Republicans are angry about inflation and the economy. Is Richie out of touch?
