Structure Fire: O’Bannon Rd.
E4260, T4270, RS4285 and automatic aid companies T4171, E3660, E3463, E3764, T3371 and T3870 responded to a 1st alarm, fire in a detached garage today just before 5:30 this afternoon.
E3660 arrived on the scene and confirmed a working fire in a 30X40 detached garage with heavy fire. A 1 3/4” hand line was stretched and fire attack began with the crew from E3660. C4201 arrived on the scene and established O’Bannon Road Command. The owners advised nobody was in the garage. E4260 arrived and supplied E3660. Crew from E4260 was assigned fire attack and search. St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department was requested to Hwy D/O’Bannon Rd intersection and Hillsboro Rd/O’Bannon Rd intersection for traffic control due to numerous onlookers that were impeding emergency vehicles.
T4270 arrived and supplied E4260. RS4285 arrived. Crew from RS4285 was assigned fire attack. The fire was brought under control and excessive overhaul was needed. E3764, E3463 and T3371 arrived. T3870 was disregarded and T4171 was moved to 4200 House 1 for coverage. St. Francois County Ambulance District arrived for rehab.
Crews from E3463 and E3764 assisted with overhaul. T3371 supplies water for fire suppression. The fire was determined to have originated on a work bench in the area of several batteries. Crews were on the scene for roughly 1 1/2 hours when command was terminated.
