Designer benzodiazepines have been a concern for overdose deaths for the past few years. There were 42 reported overdose deaths involving designer benzodiazepines in 2025 and cases continue to rise during 2026. Recently, a more potent form of kratom has been involved in two overdose deaths in 2026 and medetomidine was involved in 10 overdose deaths.
