Our deepest sympathies go out to our mutual aid partners at Avon Volunteer Fire Department. Many of us had the pleasure of working incidents alongside Deputy Chief Theriault for a number of years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and our brothers and sisters at AVFD.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department shares a formal statement honoring the life and service of Deputy Chief David Theriault, a lifelong member of our department and a dedicated servant to the Town of Avon.

We invite our community to read and remember Dave’s legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service.

Outside of our Station 22 in Storrs, you've probably walked by or sat on the memorial bench. Today, a new sign was added that better describes the significance of the bench. Thank you to Facilities for installing the bench and to our S-15 members who designed and purchased the sign. Though Chief Williams (2009) and Lieutenant Vaughan (2019) are no longer with us, their legacies live on within us and the future generations of UCFD firefighters.
