Our thoughts and prayers are with the Buffalo Professional Firefighters Local 282 and the city of Buffalo as they mourn the loss of one of their members who tragically lost their life battling a 4 alarm fire today.

❗Imagine your favorite sports team not filling all the required positions in order to play the game. Your team would be at a disadvantage before the game begins.

This is the reality that your Southington Professional Firefighters have to face when operating at the current staffing level of two members on a piece of apparatus. Unfortunately, there is much more at stake than a game for YOU and your Southington Professional Firefighters. The well-being of the community and the health and safety of our members are put at risk by the Town of Southington choosing not to maintain acceptable minimum staffing levels.

This illustration highlights the importance of staffing on first arriving fire units. It shows the mission critical tasks that must be performed, in an efficient manner, at a residential structure fire as recommended by NFPA 1710. This recommendation was referenced multiple times in the master plan completed by ESCI for the Town of Southington in 2022. Reference page 178 if you are interested..
