Law Enforcement Investigating Threat Report Near West Point Junior High
At approximately 1:06 p.m., Davis County Communications Center received a 911 call showing close proximity to West Point Junior High. This call promptly disconnected. At approximately 1:09 p.m., a second call was received referencing explosives and threatened violence toward West Point Junior High.
Deputies were immediately dispatched at approximately 1:10 p.m., and the first officer arrived on scene at approximately 1:12 p.m. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and conducted coordinated searches of the school, classrooms, surrounding property, and nearby areas.
Out of an abundance of caution, several surrounding schools implemented secure hold procedures while law enforcement and school officials assessed the threat's credibility and ensured the safety of students and staff.
At this time, no credible threats or hazardous devices have been located.
The school day concluded under normal dismissal procedures, including standard parent pick-up and bus transportation operations.
The Davis County Sheriff’s Office, Davis School District, and assisting agencies remain involved as the investigation continues. An after-action review will also be conducted with the school district.
Investigators believe the individuals connected to the calls have been identified. Additional information will be released as appropriate as the investigation continues.
