Yesterday, Sheriff Sparks shared why safe and responsible riding matters. This guide from Utah Outdoor Recreation offers tools to help families and riders better understand the devices on our roads.

Not every electric two-wheeled device is legally considered an e-bike. Some are e-motorcycles with different age, registration, training and riding requirements.

Before purchasing or riding, know what the device is and where it can legally be used.

Keeping our roads safe takes all of us.

As e-bikes and e-scooters become more common in our communities, we are also seeing serious crashes and dangerous situations involving riders of all ages. This message is not about targeting kids, parents, riders or drivers. It is a reminder that everyone who shares the road has a responsibility to help keep it safe.

Riders: obey traffic laws, wear a helmet, stay visible and ride predictably.

Drivers: slow down, put away distractions and watch carefully for riders.

Parents and guardians: know what your children are riding, how fast it can travel and whether they are ready to follow the rules every time.

Please take a moment to hear this important message from Sheriff Sparks. One safe decision can make all the difference in helping every rider, driver and pedestrian make it home.

The backpacks are packed, the bells are ringing and our school resource deputies are back in the halls! 🎒🔔

Meet Deputy Schumacher at West Point Junior High and Deputy Webster at Horizon Junior High.

They're there for more than school safety—they're there to build relationships, support students and staff, and be someone students can turn to.

🎒🚌 School is back in session!

As students head back to class, please give yourself a little extra time, slow down in school zones and keep an eye out for children walking, biking or waiting at bus stops. Put the phone away, watch for crossing guards and obey school bus lights and stop arms.

Our deputies and SROs will be out helping with traffic, reminding drivers to slow down and enforcing school-zone laws when needed—but our main goal is simple: helping everyone get to school and home safely.
