Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who answered the call.

This morning 3 of our own participated in a stair climb on the university football field to remember all of those lost on that tragic day.

Washington County Arkansas Judge Patrick Deakins has issued a county wide burn ban beginning today, August 11, at noon.

“Right now, we have to consider not only the threat of fire, but also the conditions our firefighters and other emergency responders are working in,” said Judge Deakins. With temperatures in the upper 90s and heat indexes expected to exceed 100 degrees, the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke is very real. “A burn ban will not eliminate every fire, but it can reduce the number of preventable fires caused by outdoor burning. Every fire we can prevent means one less situation where we are asking our first responders to work in these extreme conditions.”

Today, we begin our two-week academy. This is the first step in preparing firefighters from Prairie Grove and Farmington to attend the Northwest Arkansas Probationary Academy.
We wish them the best as they begin this important journey.

Today, the Farmington Fire Department trained with the school's athletic trainers to prepare for football season. Working together on emergency response for football-related injuries helps ensure our student-athletes receive the best possible care when it matters most.

Congratulations to Firefighters Beau Clark, Alex Jones, Montana Medina, and Mason Slaughter on successfully completing their first year with the Farmington Fire Department and passing their year-end evaluations. Over the past year, they have demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a strong commitment to serving our community. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to their continued growth and service to the citizens of Farmington.

4 members of the Farmington Fire Department attended the 2026 Arkansas Fire Convention. They attended the Executive Fire Officer Course and the Emergency Vehicle Technician Course.
