The Shelby Township Police Department is sponsoring two different free training courses on November 21, 2024. For additional information, contact Lt. Mark Benedettini at (586)731-2121 ext. 313 or email [email protected].

09:00 AM - 12:00 PM - "Active Shooter Survival Training" - this program will discuss "best practices" of the Department of Homeland Security guidelines of Run, Hide, Fight. Tactical employee self-protection and survival choices will be suggested through analysis of videos of actual active shooter incidents. This MIOSHA CET program is designed to encourage participants to understand types of violent threats and to assist employers their safety protocols.

01:00 PM - 4:00 PM - "Verbal De-Escalation Techniques for Difficult Individuals" - Learn practical techniques to de-escalate conflicts with distressed individuals. This session covers conflict resolution, empathetic communication, and strategies for personal safety during challenging interactions.

The trainer for both of these classes will be Dr. Ken Wolf. Dr. Wolf has conducted numerous active shooter, violence prevention, and threat assessment trainings for the government and numerous Fortune 500 companies.

These trainings will be held at Lakeside Assembly of God Church, located at 46155 Schoenherr, Shelby Township.
