On August 31st, our community came together for our annual Overdose Awareness Vigil to remember the lives lost to overdose, support those who are grieving, and stand beside those who continue to fight.

It was a powerful evening filled with memories, love, and hope. Thank you to Dan, David, and Tiffany for speaking, and to Chris LeCompt for his performance of Amazing Grace!

Most importantly, thank you to every family member, friend, and community member who joined us to honor those we have lost. Their memories remain with us and continue to remind us why this work and this community matter so deeply.

Tonight, we gathered for our annual candlelight vigil in honor of Overdose Awareness.

It is always a bittersweet experience, emotional, heartbreaking, yet somehow uplifting. Looking around the room and seeing the faces of those we have lost to this epidemic reminds us of the tremendous weight of this crisis and the lives behind every statistic.

But tonight was also about hope.

We heard beautiful memories. We heard stories of resilience and recovery. We witnessed how even through unimaginable loss, healing can create a ripple that touches families, friends, communities, and people we may never even meet.

Every candle represented a life. Every photograph held a story. Every person in that room was part of something bigger: remembering those we have lost while continuing to fight for those who are still here.

A heartfelt thank you to David Mahler and Tiffany for sharing your stories and speaking tonight, and to Chris LeCompte for providing the music that created such a meaningful backdrop for this experience.

We remember. We heal. We carry their stories forward. 🕯️💜
