Great news for clean water in New York! The NYS Assembly and Senate have passed legislation strengthening PFAS drinking water standards. While the EPA plans to roll back and delay implementing their federal PFAS standards, New York is moving forward with stronger, science-based measures to protect millions of New Yorkers from these toxic "forever chemicals." A huge thank you to Assemblywoman Lee and Senator Brian Kavanagh for championing this crucial legislation!

Riverhead Charter School students visited for another educational day on the Long Island Sound! They enjoyed beach seining, looking at microorganisms through a microscope and interacting with creatures in a touch tank!

They also had the opportunity to board the Christeen, America’s oldest oyster sloop and National Historic Landmark, where they participated in a dredging exercise and water quality testing.

Another successful day on the water! 🌊

Riverhead Charter School students visited The WaterFront Center for another educational day on the Long Island Sound! They enjoyed beach seining, looking at microorganisms through a microscope and interacting with creatures in a touch tank!

We’re honored that New York State Marine Education Association recognized CCE Executive Director, Adrienne Esposito, for her dedication to protecting Horseshoe Crabs 🌊

This important species is now regulated in New York State under the Horsheoe Crab Protection Act which bans the illegal harvesting of these creatures in our waters!
