The Union Parish Sheriff's Office Reserve Division is made up of volunteers from communities throughout Union Parish and neighboring parishes.

Our Reserve Deputies currently call Farmerville, Rocky Branch, Marion, Spearsville, Downsville, Ruston, West Monroe, and Sterlington home. Together, they represent Union, Lincoln, and Ouachita Parishes while volunteering their time to serve the citizens of Union Parish.

While some of our deputies live outside Union Parish, each has strong ties to our community through family, business, lifelong friendships, or personal history. Union Parish is more than a place on a map, it's home to the people and communities they care about.

This geographic diversity allows our division to bring together a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, all focused on one mission: serving our community.

As our division continues to grow, we'd love to see representation from every corner of Union Parish. Communities such as Bernice and Junction City are important parts of our parish, and we'd be proud to have residents from those areas join the ranks of our Reserve Division in the future.

No matter where we call home, we are united by a shared commitment to serving the citizens of Union Parish.

The Union Parish Sheriff's Office Reserve Division is made up of 19 volunteer deputies from a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds.

Among our ranks are military veterans, emergency management professionals, business owners, business managers, educators, college professors, safety professionals, fi****ms instructors, POST-certified law enforcement officers, and former law enforcement supervisors.

These men and women bring decades of leadership, training, experience, and community involvement to the citizens of Union Parish.

While each deputy has a unique background, they all share a common commitment to serving others and helping keep our communities safe.

The strength of the Reserve Division isn't just in the number of deputies we have, it's in the knowledge, experience, and dedication they bring to the badge.

Tonight, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division has 10 additional deputies out serving our community. These deputies are paired up in 5 units and will be patrolling throughout the parish tonight.

Our Reserve Deputies volunteer their time to help provide extra visibility, assist full-time deputies, and support public safety across Union Parish.

Tonight, members of the Union Parish Reserve Deputy Division had the honor of assisting with security for the 2026 Union Parish Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet, where Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Mike Johnson was in attendance.

Reserve Deputies Sgt. Jordan Harris, Lt. Matthew Ford, Captain Chad Nolan, and Deputy John Hancock were present to assist with the event, along with Captain Cade Nolan. They also had the opportunity to be pictured with Speaker Johnson, making it a memorable evening for those involved.

Opportunities like this are a reminder of the important role reserve deputies play in supporting our community, our Sheriff’s Office, and events throughout Union Parish. We are always proud to serve when called upon.

In recognition of National Police Week, we proudly honor the dedicated men and women of our Reserve Division. Their commitment, professionalism, and selfless service play an essential role in the success of our department and the safety of our community.

Our Reserve Deputies willingly devote their time and talents to a wide range of responsibilities, including patrol operations, criminal interdiction, traffic enforcement, special events, crime scene investigations, and countless other assignments. No matter the assignment, they consistently serve with integrity, dedication, and unwavering professionalism.

Their contributions do not go unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for the sacrifices they make and the support they provide to both our agency and the citizens we serve. Our department and community are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding group standing beside us.

Director Ford and Deputy Director Green took a quick break from the Louisiana Emergency Management Conference today to check out the Hurricane Awareness Tour at Chennault International Airport. They had the opportunity to tour the U.S. Air Force Reserve WC-130J “Hurricane Hunter” aircraft and learn more about the critical missions these crews perform during hurricane season.

These aircraft play a major role in gathering real-time storm data that helps forecasters track hurricanes and improve public safety decisions before and during severe weather events. It was a great experience seeing the aircraft up close and speaking with the teams that support these operations.

While Union Parish may not experience hurricanes as frequently as our coastal parishes, we still see impacts from tropical systems including severe weather, flooding, tornadoes, power outages, and in some rare cases even the remnants of hurricanes themselves. Preparing for these events remains an important part of emergency management for our parish.

As we continue preparing for the 2026 hurricane season, opportunities like this help strengthen our understanding of the tools, partnerships, and response capabilities involved in protecting Louisiana communities statewide.

A Lifetime of Service: Honoring Chief E. Bim Coulberston

After four decades of unwavering dedication to law enforcement and public service, Chief E. Bim Coulberston is being rightfully recognized with induction into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame this June in Baton Rouge—an honor that reflects not only a remarkable career, but a life defined by courage, sacrifice, and an enduring commitment to his community.

Serving as Police Chief of the Farmerville Police Department for 30 years, Chief Coulberston stands as the longest-serving police chief in the state of Louisiana, currently in his eighth term. His leadership has been a constant source of strength and stability for the town of Farmerville, where he has built a legacy rooted in integrity, accountability, and compassion.

Chief Coulberston’s career is marked by extraordinary bravery. Early in his service, he was shot numerous times in the line of duty—a life-threatening event that earned him the distinguished Purple Heart Award. For many, such an experience would have ended a career. For Chief Coulberston, it became a testament to his resilience. He returned to duty with even greater determination, continuing to serve and protect the community he loves.

His commitment to the people of Union Parish extends far beyond law enforcement. In recognition of his profound impact, he was named Public Servant of the Year by the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce and awards from the Union Parish Voters League-an honor that reflects the deep respect and admiration he has earned from both citizens and colleagues.

Those who know Chief Coulberston describe him as a leader who leads with his heart. He has mentored countless officers, strengthened community relationships, and served as a steady and trusted presence through both challenging and triumphant times.

As he is inducted into the Louisiana Justice Hall of Fame, this moment represents more than recognition—it is a celebration of a lifetime devoted to service, resilience, and leadership. Chief E. Bim Coulberston’s legacy is one of courage, honor, and unwavering dedication—and his story will continue to inspire future generations across Louisiana and beyond.
