DEPUTIES RECOVER AUTOMATIC FIREARM DURING TRAFFIC STOP
On December 31, 2025, at approximately 9:49 pm, deputies with the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop within the city limits of Farmerville. The driver initially failed to stop and continued a short distance into an apartment complex before coming to a complete stop.
Two passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the complex. The driver was secured by deputies. Additional UPSO deputies and officers from the Farmerville Police Department responded to search for the fleeing individuals. One of the passengers was later located and detained. The other individual was not identified at the time of the incident.
During the search of the area, deputies recovered two fi****ms in a wooded area near the apartment complex. A search of the vehicle also resulted in the discovery of multiple fi****ms inside the passenger compartment, including a handgun equipped with a drum magazine and a device that allowed the firearm to function as a fully automatic weapon. Additional items consistent with attempts to conceal identity were located inside the vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that both identified individuals were prohibited from possessing fi****ms due to existing court orders or prior felony convictions. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Union Parish Detention Center.
