Farmersville Intermediate School

Farmersville Intermediate School FIS actively fosters an environment that empowers students to thrive academically and personally. At that time, the Intermediate school housed grades 4 and 5.

On March 4, 2004, a destructive spring storm blew through Farmersville at the end of the school day. The storm destroyed the N.O. Wright gymnasium that was on that campus. During the next several months of rebuilding the gym, the Farmersville Board of Trustees formed a committee to look at facility needs throughout the district. The committee determined that there was a need for a new Intermediate

building and recommended that the Board of Trustees call for a bond election. The Board called and held the bond election on April 5, 2005 asking the community to support the building of a new Intermediate building on the existing site, as well as building the baseball/softball complex and the vocational building on the high school campus. The community approved the sale of $10 million in bonds and the district had an additional $2 million in construction savings for the projects. The gym was rebuilt in 2005 and the remainder of the Intermediate building was opened in August, 2006. It was during the planning for the building that the Board approved the recommendation that it house grades 2 through 5 when it opened.

This month, our school wide character trait is Cooperation! 🤝

Cooperation means working together, listening to others, sharing ideas, and doing your part to help a group succeed. When students learn how to cooperate, they build stronger friendships, solve problems more effectively, and create a positive school community.

Our school counselor will be visiting each classroom to teach lessons focused on cooperation. Throughout the month, teachers will also intentionally highlight and celebrate examples of students working together, encouraging one another, and contributing to team success.

💡 How you can support Cooperation at home:

• Give your child small responsibilities that contribute to the family (setting the table, feeding pets, helping with laundry).
• Play board games or complete puzzles together to practice turn-taking and teamwork.
• Model healthy communication by listening carefully and respecting different opinions.
• Encourage your child to use phrases like “How can I help?” or “Let’s figure this out together.”
• Talk about times when your family worked as a team and what made it successful.

When school and home work together, our students thrive! Thank you for partnering with us as we help our children grow into kind, collaborative leaders.

Let’s make it a month full of teamwork!
